Re: Tube in the starboard rear berth-transom?

Sorry about screwing the quote process up. I went out to the boat and rechecked the steering cable. I stand corrected. It doesn't use the throttle/shift cable fairing.

Re: Tube in the starboard rear berth-transom?

as they route the control cables direct from the pedestal to the motor.
Interesting. How does BWY do that? I can maybe see the throttle and shift cables but how do they run the steering cable out of the pedestal? I wouldn't want any cables on the deck that could be stepped on.

Re: How do you clean your gas tanks?

All of the advise above is good. I perfer water and Simple Green myself. Don't forget however to change your fuel line filter. You do have a filter on your fuel line I assume.

Re: Quick Question About Nav Lights

Russ is correct for a powerboat. A 360 light indicates under power. But, this is not so with a sailboat under power. With a sailboat you must have a masthead light (225*) A sb under sail can have a tri-color on the top of the mast or bi-colors on the sides. Only pwrboats are allowed an all around li...

Re: Quick Question About Nav Lights

Wind Chime, After rereading your post it seems to me that your thinking that powerboats don't have steaming lights. All power boats over 16' must have lights to including steaming. When it comes to colregs we need to remember they were delveloped thru necessity in the commercial and military field n...

Re: Quick Question About Nav Lights

Wind Chime, The reason for no steaming light on under sail is to identify the "Pecking Order". Powerboats must give way to sailboats (not always). With the steaming light "on" the "sail boat" another vessel would not be able to identify the sailboat from a powerboat thus endangering the "Peaking Ord...

Re: Quick Question About Nav Lights

propnut30, Keeping lighting striaght on a boat can be confusing. First let's answer your question. No those side lights are not legal because they put light out in a 112.5 degree arch. You need 135 * of arch. I'm not sure what those lights really are. There is no such thing as white side lights. Ken...

Re: help with center board removal

paul I,
Just in case you are wondering where that nut and bolt are located. They are under the forward seat in the cabin. It is easiest if you pull out the table first. That gives you more room to work.

Re: Steering Arm/Cable Help

My X has had finger tip steering since I bought the boat new in 99. My nut is chrome. I wanted to take the cable out to lube it but can't budge that nut. I put a 270# guy on it and he can't budge it. I sure hope the steering doesn't go out.

Re: Apostle Islands with lighthouses and bears and sea caves

Hi Barnacle, Indeed some have. I myself have been thru the Apostles. It is a magical place. Just watch out for rocks around the island shorelines. There are thousands just under the surface. All the main waters are ok though. A good chart of the islands will show you how to approach and what the dep...

Happy to have you onboard. My X didn't look that good when I bought it new in 99. By the way, is an M mast raiser different that an X riser?

Re: X marks the spot (or so we think)

I got my X new in April of 99. All the mods that Macgregor put on even their 01'S was the same as my 99. SS rudder brackets, campanionway ladder, new rudders, updated steering, ballast vent moved foreward, chrome metal cleats and so on.
