FURTHER Re: Stolen Engine

It seems an attempt was made to take another ETEC from another MACM in the Marina and a boat from another marina with an ETEC 60 was also stolen. Really weird!

Stolen Engine

Hi, I'm a bit :x . Having just spent a pleasant sailing break at Paynesville I have have just been told by the police that lastnight the marina where I store Windsong Mastup was broken into and my ETEC 60 stolen off Windsong. An attempt on another boat was also made. Anyone claimed an engine on Insu...

Re: Name & Order of Your 3-5 Most Important Mods

Here are my most important ones: 1: Boomkicker - Better sailshape and dispense with topping lift 2: Mastgate to keep Mainsail lugs inside mast track allows sail to come down & pack tighter 3: Lazyjacks - Quicker downhaul with no mess 4: NMEA network connecting plotter/ engine/fuel flow/ VHF DSC 5: H...

Re: Never, ever wax my glass off again

Further Heads up. I just went to the Danish site and downloaded the specs and warnings on the product. It indicates that there can be allergies from product substances which can give an allergic reaction on contact with skin. It may take 12-72 hours as the substance penetrates the skin and reacts wi...

Re: Smartphone Wind Velocity Meters

I saw them in WM, but for the price of a dedicated hand-held instrument, I thought it wasn't worth it. And the egg cups look like they're susceptible to breakage, especially the way I treat the contents of my boat. The other style, with the impeller in a housing, would be less likely to get damaged...

Re: Rules of the road? Rules of the sea!

Come to Australia. We drive over Kangaroos and Wombats as they stop in our path and gaze in wonder at our Navigation lights. Fortunately they do not seem to travel in shipping lanes but a few fishermen in tinnies with no lights do! BB Actually, my son is coming to Australia for a semester abroad st...

The Wallabies are a world champion football team. We love em. The wallabys do get squashed from time to time too but they do less damage..

Re: Never, ever wax my glass off again

Please keep us all posted. BB Hi Mac26Mpaul, Berberher Boy and any other Mac owners down under. I have just ordered a product called Lion Protect Gel Coat Sealer (250 ml)- enough for 9 metre boat, and 1 litre of Pre cleaner from ABS Technolgies in Adelaide. The Cruising Helmsman Mag (Dec 2015, pg 51...

Smartphone Wind Velocity Meters

Has anyone tried out the Ronstan Vaavud V2 Wind meter yet. Seems a cheap option to get reasonably accurate wind measurement although not at the top of the mast.

Re: Never, ever wax my glass off again

I tried NG2 and my :macm: is in Victoria which is much cooler. However it oxidised very quickly and looked terrible. I found methylated spirits would gradually thin the NG2 coating and get it off. What I have been doing more recently is using Amour-all Protectant which is silicone based and used for...

So balance is important for performance and full ballast important for upright stability although I am sure they both overlap and go together!

Re: Something Learned

THIS is why I want a float switch in the ballast tank. Everyone thinks I'm lame but I want to KNOW the water is all the way up to the top of the tank and I want to know if it drops below that for any reason. And I wanna know it from the helm seat. It looks a really nice setup. I presume the float i...

Something Learned

In the last year or so I have been increasingly unhappy with the performance of my :macm: It has been heeling too easily and have found it very difficult to tack and sail reasonably close-hauled. Having just spent four days with the boat where I moor it I have discovered why. Since I have had the bo...

Re: New Glass2 on Knot Shore

Does the gelcoat (particularly the black) not oxidize through this stuff at all then? Thanks Like MacPaul, I live in Australia. Two years ago after reading about New Glass I imported two bottles and followed the directions only on my Black stripe areas. It looked fantastic until I returned 4 months...
