Re: front mast stay pin

Concern - Is this secure enough :?: I have replaced the bolt and locking ring with a toggle pin as per photo. This I have done to simplify the operation while on the water. eg ease of use, less parts to fall overboard. (I put an SS washer on the end of the pin to hold on a piece of plastic hose whi...

Re: How did you find your boat?

I think there's at least a few of us that are trying, unfortunately, to sell our boats. I am wondering where you guys, that didn't buy em straight from the factory, found em!? I have mine on craigslist in my area and have had just few calls over the past month or so. I think it's WAY underpriced an...

Re: 26m 2004 or 2000 26x Your thoughts

Need help. Looking at two used boats. Leaning towards the 26m 2004 and 26x The table inside the 2004 26m boat seems it would be hard to get around. Other than thAt I like both boats. All things being equal. Your thoughts. I like the center board of the :macm: vs the swing keel of the :macx: . I lik...

Re: Steering failing in F8-9

Well said Dave B. I wouldn't put my :macx: in the North Sea...during any time of the year. I actually sailed a 38' Westerly across the Gulf of Mexico in 1994...got hit 1st night out by a northern front moving through. It was scarey and exciting; 10-15' seas, 30-50 mph winds...and definately beyond ...

Re: Forestay locking pin

Mac Folk, I am looking for a user friendly forestay locking pin. Secure and straight forward. With this set up it is hard to find the hole while pulling the forestay down to line things up. And the hex bolt head is hard on the fingers. This set up has the forestay running up inside the front sail. ...

Re: single handed sailing

Good morning all, I have a 26m and am new to sailing. I have been out a few times & starting to get the hang of the basics. My problem is getting a crew as its not convenient for people to drop everything just when the weather is right. Realy what im asking is there anything I can do to rig the boa...

Trailing docking guide lines...

For C130king...A nice setup, and I am now very jealous, but those chains are just too slack. Only my 2 cents worth, but cross and shorten them so there is just enough slack to turn corners...and even if they are TOO short, it will only skid the trailer a bit and will prevent a slow motion jackknife...

Re: Actually Hit 16.5 knots

I took a long weekend this week and after meeting all family obligations  I got the day to myself out on the water yesterday. I decided to experiment a little because usually I have the Admiral and two kids onboard. First, I sailed with no ballast in, I know several of you have done this alre...

Re: 1999 26x Swing Keel line distance

I agree with the 24" of line travel. Mine is knotted at that mark, and then I have a little more than 12" to the next knot at the end of the line. Both knots help to grip the rope when raising the swing keel. I'll measure mine next time I get down to "Nameless". I don't remember it looking like 24"...
