Re: Optimum wind speed for an X?

I loved15kts with full sails, lowest speed over 45 minutes was 5.9kts up to 6.7kts. Full Genoa(135% IIRC from Judy B) and main. 15-20° heel. We could really feel her power up in the gusts. After that we neared a land mass that causes wind shadow and kind of spoils the fun. Depending on point of sail...

Re: Help, I can't shake out my reef.

Hi Darren, Sorry to hear your admiral wants to keep things on an even keel at all times. I'm not sure I have any remedies but next time you're at a club event try starting conversations about how far over people have been. I'm sure no one in MYCBC has been capsized  The weekend in 2014 when we...

Re: 2001 Honda BF50 Spins Free Above 3500 RPM

Is the photo of your damaged prop from the engine side or the nut side? It has a lot of scoring on the mating surface that makes me wonder if the thrust washer is missing or incorrect. If there is a problem with the thrust washer the extra resistance could be what caused your hub to fail.

Wow, He's probably a legend among his friends with all his harrowing tales of the high seas. If I didn't know my Grandpa was at home it could be him. My Grandpa could tell you stories for days about the hazards and mishaps, harrowing tales of foul weather that kicks up without warning, and helicopte...

DUAL HASPS!!!! :o :o :o :o :o Need pics of those Bad Boys! Thanks for taking my jest so well. I appreciate the knowledge and honesty you've shared in your posts and look forward to them. As far as slow boats are concerned(no I'm not touting the Mac's superiority) friends of ours just bought a Pacifi...

Re: mac federal documentation

Catigale, Are you referring to our attempts to take over your country by sending you our funniest comedians(Jim Carey, John Candy, and many more) or our worst actors(Keannu Reeves)? Up here we do our best to resist 'Mericanization but it's really hard  We console ourselves with the fact that wh...

Looks more like there's no room to pin the furler to the chainplate with that very "en-larged appendage" on the anchor roller    which smiley do you use for "nudge, nudge"? I had to look that up Kevin, I thought maybe it was a Petrol additive I didn't know about that would "get me u...

Signaleer, My experience was similar to yours, got the boat rigged it, had trouble, came here for help, and yes found the help I needed. I'm not claiming by the way to be the one to answer all your questions, I'm just saying if you give this community a chance collectively they will come through for...

In Canada: Correct me if I'm wrong Wayne  I phoned and asked but haven't done it. -It's not mandatory for a boat our size but it is allowed. -What you call documented we call registered -What you call registered we call licensed -My license numbers are displayed at the bow both sides -Licensed...

Neo, The primary inside joke is that Mastreb replaced his :macm: with a larger but somehow still inferior  Beneteau Oceanis which cost as much as 10 Macs for the sole benefit of a factory cleat amidship and a nicer Hasp on the companionway. Of course I deny the existance of such a vessel to my...

Most of us sneak the extra info like engine etc into the location line so that it shows up in the box at the right side of your post. 90hp really moves your boat compared to my 50 :P How much does that puppy weigh? We get to see Dall's porpoise quite often here Dolphins usually frequent areas about ...

Re: First Mac Experience...

Nice video and effects, what were those mammals in the water? Dolphins, porpoises, or pilot whales? What engine do you have? Can you add your engine and year to your user profile? It's very handy both when you are asking questions and when others have questions for you. I'm trying to improve my vide...

Re: Need to make a decision on make of motor

Not long ago, 5yrs maybe the majority of the Macs here in the Pacific North West were Honda powered. Of course that's judging by used boat ads. But as the :macx: turns 20 many a boat has seen a re-power and they're often zipping past with a Suzi 90 on they back like they're ashamed me and my 50hp ar...
