Re: CDI Roller Furler + Jib Halyard Block

I didn't do it personally but my :macx: has 3 blocks at the mast head area....Mainsail Halyard, jib halyard, and a 3rd(low quality, showing corrosion) I use for topping lift/radar reflector/whatever I need. They are either mounted in new holes in the mast or on a chicken head type strap.(where I thi...

Re: Marina Maneuvers

Thanks to All who replied, was I've known about prop-walk for years now and it was recently covered for me during a 14week boating course through Power Squadron(one of the assistant teachers was a sailor and a Mac fan 8) ), but having run only smaller boats at higher speeds with tighter turning, thi...

Re: Marina Maneuvers

Thanks, blue is my favorite color by I wont give up my extra 0.00000000000000000000001 knots under power for it :D Currently on the hard far from home to repair #1cylinder no compression problem. I'm a quick study and a slow learner, sooooo, low speed = rudders down

Marina Maneuvers

First trip with my Mac :macx: two weeks ago 8) . I'm pretty good at backing down a ramp with a shorter trailer so the Mac was a dream. We rigged in the parking lot, launched, then loaded the remainder of the gear for 4 guys for 5 days, parked the trailer, gave the skipper speech(location of safety g...

Re: tales and tribulations of a noob.

I'm not quite ready to write a post about the Maiden Voyage of the Whipsyjac last week but your thread title would be spot on :? Your furler drum looks just like mine except I can't see your pin. Mine has a pin through the black drum that holds it down on the furler, I have to pull up on the furled ...

Re: Securing Raised Mast Question on X

I've only had my boat on the water once but I've had the mast up and down several times. One suggestion from the manual is to use the jib halyard connected to the pulpit to help raise and steady the mast until the clevis pin on the furler is in. A previous owner has added a halyard/topping lift/flag...

Re: Just bought my first Mac, trying to get rigged for the seaso

Thanks so much Terry, Can't make it out Friday but joining the club is way up on my priority list. Things are coming together pretty well. This year's focus is on mandatory equipment and the Power Squadron's list of recommended equipment(99% safety). Next year the "must have"s, then some mods. I'll ...

I love a quick reply, now I just have to figure out how to tighten the turnbuckle.

Re: Who was that Mac

My sister lives in Victoria on Gorge road, wishing I could sail(motor) right up the waterway in front of her place on May Long. I think there's a few bridges that don't open or swing in the way.

There's an :macx: at the White Rock pier(those are hard berths to get, HUGE waiting list).

Just bought my first Mac, trying to get rigged for the seaso

Hello all, I bought my :macx: in December, brought her home, and tarped her up. We had worked out her name a couple years ago when we set our goal of buying a Mac. "Whipsyjac" is a combination of letters from our names that sounds like the bird " Whiskey jack". I've been crawling around in my boat i...

Re: Who was that Mac

Mine's under a tarp and I live near White Rock so it wasn't me. I'm excited to see other locals on this forum. The mystery of the missing Mac is a fun game. There once was a :macx: in a driveway in White Rock called "Snow Goose" then just the trailer.....haven't seen the boat since(couple years) I h...
