Re: 2 forestays?

It is done, it's just a matter of wording except most tie off to the pulpit and don't add a bowsprit. We do the same as March, only sadly no spin. I have a furler, my boat has a block and a jib halyard. With the furler I don't use the halyard for sails so we use it to aid in mast raising and tie it ...

Re: Need to make a decision on make of motor

Forums are funny things, I approach them by reading the whole thread then re reading the original post. Your question seems to be Honda or Yamaha. My question is do you do your own oil changes? Plugs? Fuel filter? Gear Oil? If you do your own maintenance you won't need a dealer unless you have a maj...

Re: another, prob dumb, prop question Honda 50

Theoretically the difference is two miles per hour. The first one has a slightly smaller diameter to give you enough torque advantage to turn a faster(higher number pitch) The second one will move more water with its larger blade area but this takes more torque so they lower the pitch. More diameter...

Re: 26X - Heel vs Speed

bobbob, Do you have an angle indicator? Your crew can usually understand how the ballast will right the boat even from 90deg and there is video evidence if they don't. Without a visual indicator you're thinking 10deg and the admiral thinks its 89deg. Once we put an angle indicator on the sliding hat...

Re: New owner raising the mast

About your backstay, The backstay does not play a part in holding your rig up. The backstay takes load when running before the wind. Do not use your backstay to adjust rig tension ie. correct a loose forestay. If you do this your shrouds (side stays) will be to loose and there are plenty of threads ...

Re: Thoughts on this Mac?

Hi Dave, My throttle control is on the pedestal but mounted very low. It's the way I got the boat but it's a poor install. It is awkward to get the key that low to start the engine. Reverse is so close to the cockpit sole that it doesn't seem logical. The controls are fully useable but that's as goo...

Re: Thoughts on this Mac?

1996 :macx: right? That's my year. If you look at my video's or pics in my posts you'll see my mainsheet goes to a pad eye a few inches below the pedestal top on the forward side. https://youtu.be/bvZoAF9DISY The original owner had the sounder/fish finder on the back of the settee so you had to look...

Re: June breaking rainfall records

Wow! We're having hot weather and drought conditions on the West Coast. All that sunshine is pushing crazy thermals and we're getting wind wind and more wind. I was going to boat across the Strait this weekend but they're calling for 20-30kts. I've crossed in the low 20's under power but I'm going t...
