Re: Aliases

Well here's our Alia/Boat name explained, My Admiral's family has a tradition of making boat names out of the letters of family first names. Since we were plannning/saving for an :macx: which is a black and white boat, we came up with a name from the available letters that sounds like Whiskey jack, ...

Re: Loose Motor Control Arm

By "motor control arm" do you mean the throttle/shift lever or a part of the steering system To post a pic you need to upload it to a site like photobucket or tinypic then copy the link and paste it in your post. If you click the img button above the dialog box when creating a post it'll give you th...

Re: Tattoo Roller Main on Youtube?

Here are my youtube videos of Whipsyjac....they don't hold a candle to most of yours....yet. We'll get better at this as its a way to keep the kids involved. Sorry I didn't get footage of powering through a 23kt wind in May or rounding Edith point into 20kts and 5 foot waves in August, but hey we're...

Re: Tattoo Roller Main on Youtube?

Sorry should have put the link here or even better put this in the other thread about roller mains. Just so many daydreams going on today. Here is the vid... Very similar or identical to the Jeff Inmon vid you put in the other thread. http://youtu.be/HIXb4V8fWQE I didn't have an answer for the OP in...

Tattoo Roller Main on Youtube?

Hi all, I'm having a hard time adjusting to fall. I've uploaded a vid to youtube and started editing a second. Since my vids have Macgregor in the title all the Macgregor/tattoo videos come up as options after you view. That's where I saw the video of the Tattoo with roller furling main. Unfortunate...

Re: New Video - Labor Day Weekend

Don my gut reaction is "that's my new favorite SS Otter Vid" If we get an action cam I'll probably post a lot of FFwd vid like that. I like it better than cut scene vids because I don't feel like I missed anything. Does your GPS have a sounder? Looked like a single wire. I've got to start a youtube ...

Re: Propeller Change

Skipper, Changing your prop to achieve proper RPM is done for the conditions you encounter most often. If you are always on Lake Tahoe then you should change your prop to get you into the proper zone. The elevation only becomes relevant if you take your boat somewhere else ie. the coast for a trip t...

Re: Who would build their own if the plans were available ?

Divecoz, I looked up the Hobie 33, its an interesting boat. I'm pretty sure it's not like what the guys are saying, actually has a fairly small cockpit and cabin 2/3 of the way from the mast to the transom. The idea being tossed around is more of a J boat cuddy cabin with 1/2 the LOA an open cockpit...

Re: New Video - Labor Day Weekend

Hi Don, Another great video! Like your San Juans vid your teamwork and sailing skills shine. I make 2 or 3 times as many mistakes everytime I'm out...just honing my skills :D I don't remember seeing a couple of your mods in your San Juan vid but that was 2004. Could you post your cockpit table mod? ...

I have a few dozen back issues of sail if someone wants trade for other sailing magazines. Since you're on the east coast and I'm in the PNW how about some "Pacific Yachting" and "Canadian Yachting West" 2013-2014? If you have a chance I'd be specifically interested in issues covering Trans Atlanti...

Re: random 26X thoughts and photos

Starscream, moving batts is not a big deal...I guess I could take pics and add to the mod section. To keep it simple I made a a battery support out of ply. Used Pl premium to mount it (sticks amazingly to the fibreglass.). Cut down some cheap plastic battery boxes and mounted them on the ply wood. A...

Re: random 26X thoughts and photos

Starscream, If you're talking about the engine well drain....it's a plastic hose :? but it seems to have an enormous amount of 5200 on both ends where it connects to fibreglass. Pretty much the same setup as the sink drains. I'm trying to think why your stern is so low then I remembered you just got...

I'm roaming the isles of the West Marine .... Matt I think you meant "cruising" the Isles of West Marine...check your charts(shopping list) or you'll hit Impulse Buy Reef although it is a marked hazard with big shiny signs and lower prices...also check your sailing directions(bank balance) because ...
