Re: Boom kicker.

I installed one to get rid of the topping lift as I fish off the back of the boat when anchored. I cannot say my sailing has improved but the back half of the boat is nice and open for fishing. It does take longer to setup during mast rigging and derigging. Not sure I can recommend this mod if u r n...

Re: What Are Your Top 5,10,15 Mods Or How Do I Love Thee- my

When purchased, my boat was fully loaded with auto pilot and electronics. It had the Dawsor full enclosure with stern rail seats and 150 Genoa on a roller. Mods I made myself Two Walkers down riggers electrical mounted off stern rail seats using bbq clamp. No drilling and out of the way for sailing....

Re: Your Opinion on new Sails for a 26M

I purchased a new sail from BWY in 2015, It is a square top 5.0 dacron, 2 reef points, full battens Note the square is a little rounded on the top and not like some of the images I have seen on this site. It also has a loose foot. I do not need to remove the top batten when adding the sail cover. Th...

Georgian Bay 30 000 Islands, Midland, Honey Harbour

I am planning a 10 day trip to the 30,000 Island area in Georgian bay in July. I know Penetenguishine has a good trailer sailor friendly marina and it is only 20 miles away from 30,000 islands but I was wondering if any body could recommend a marina with great launch ramp and trailer storage in the ...

Re: Zodiac 270 vs 310 on foredeck

Thanks so much for all the great advice! I really appreciate it. I ended up going with the 310 and purchased a 6hp Tohatsu for it. If I was only looking at a tender for sailing...the 270 would have been the best choice as I could lift that on and off the boat...I do not think I could lift the 310. I...

Re: Zodiac 270 vs 310 on foredeck

Thanks for the responses. I am leaning towards the 310 at this stage. So far, I always have a dock nearby to inflate the dinghy. I use the dinghy to fish with 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children so a larger one is probably best for my needs.

Zodiac 270 vs 310 on foredeck

I am looking at buying a Zodiac with air floor to replace my Mariner 4 as it did not survive the last epic trip. I have yet to decide if I should go with the 270 which has a length of 8 feet 10 in or the 310 with a length of 10 feet 2 in. I would prefer the larger size 310 but worried that it will n...

Following the Vandee Globe? Solo around the world

For those of you suffering with cabin fever...you can always follow the Vandee Globe which started 8 days ago and will last another 70 days. It is a solo sailing race around the world without any assistance or any stops. It will take them approximately 80 days. I am following Alex Thomson in the Hug...
