Re: Opinions: Backstay and topping lift necessary?

I got mine from Dowsar Marine the ONTARIO Mac dealer. It came with instructions specifically for the :macm:

Works great and I cannot see any issue. I am sure they can ship it to you.

Re: Video 26M in sub arctic gale force winds

really cool trip!!! Did you sail or motor in these conditions? Do you know why the shroud broke??? To answer your question, there were three 4 major legs but the near death experience happened right at the end in the marina and I described what happened to us too. 1) Quebec City to Taudoussac.. app...

Re: Video 26M in sub arctic gale force winds

For me this trip encapsulated the versatility of the Macgregor boat and the reason why I cannot go for a full size keel boat yet despite all the luxuries. I foam at the mouth thinking of all the places we can go to with our boats and I will be spending the next few months thinking about next year's ...

Re: Video 26M in sub arctic gale force winds

Thanks, we did not realise we were going to get that kind of weather there...never seen such persistent winds lasting for days even in the early hours of the morning. The boat setup works well for us and has been tried and tested. We all agree that next boys trip will be somewhere much warmer!

Gulf of Lawrence & Saguenay Fjord Video

Went on a 2-week boys trip with the new Phantom 4 drone in July. Launching just north of Quebec City and sailed over 120 nautical miles North into the sub arctic area region for some whale watching and got greeted by its weather. We needed 6 layers of clothing to keep warm at times and water temp wa...

BOAT,

Which autopilot do you have? Mine cannot control the boat in strong winds.

Yesterday 7 boats capsize on Lake Ontario

Morning! A short but powerful storm hit Western Lake Ontario yesterday afternoon and a few boats capsized. I know 4 of them were small catamarans and not sure about the other 3. I was wondering if there were any Macs out there yesterday and what the experience was like. https://www.thestar.com/news/...

Re: Who owns this Mac?

I have the setup shown in the pic with the full enclosure and stern rail seats. I can say it is well thought out and sturdy.

Re: Second Motor(Kicker) on 26M

I made an emergency kicker bracket for a Suzuki 2.5hp. It mounts in place of the swim ladder on our 26M, using the swim ladder brackets for the mount. The boom vang is connected between the stern rail seat and the kicker bracket to adjust the height of the bracket. The starboard rudder needs to be ...

Re: Raising mast with furler attached + MRS

I have the 2004 26M model which I purchased in 2012. At the time of purchase, I downloaded what must have been the latest Mac manual where it described using a bowline knot to attach the baby stays to the mast bail. This technique did not work well for me at all and I even bent the stainless steel m...

Quebec City to Tadoussac Launching advice

Hi, I am planning a 10 day boys only trip between Quebec City and Tadoussac on the St Lawrence seaway in July. I am looking for a trailer sailor friendly marina with launch ramp and parking nearby for my car and trailer for a fee of course. Any recommendations? I would also appreciate any tips on an...

Re: Raising mast with furler attached + MRS

Mast sway was a huge problem when i used to use the bowline knot technique to secure the baby stays to the mast. That all ended when I used small shackles to secure the baby stays directly to the mast. Use the smallest ones that fit your baby stays. They should be so small that u need to screw them ...
