Re: Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems

Gotta be honest, best system I ever found was a careful look in the rear view Mirrors, and a quick stop for a positive check every 50 miles or so (more often if road conditions demand it).

Re: How do I get old lettering off my boat?

I used a heat gun (if they are vinyl). Trick is to heat enough to soften the adhesive, but not so much the vinyl becomes to weak to pull away. Good luck with the renaming ceremony, I felt the need to involve the whole family, a BBQ and a lot of Rum. I am certain old Neptune was quite happy with the ...

High mass>> high cg >> less stability.... :|
Not sure that the almost upside down stowage is that good for the tenders engine either, at least the fuel will leak if not the engine oil too.

Re: towing the dinghy distance

depends on what you are towing. I have a 2.7M inflatable at about 30 feet (with outboard fitted works OK) but significantly slows you down/increases fuel consumption. If I don't need it I leave the tender on the mooring I feel better doing so now I have a liferaft on board. Before I dragged it every...

Been down to have a look at Stirling today. Covered in Night Heron poo

She is not looking so elegant right now, Stub mast idea was originally that of Duane Dunn, on Allegro

Re: MacTrawler Avatar

As far as I'm concerned, you can do anything you want with it. 8) Community property, or something like that. JohnCFI has the non-dodger version (near the top of this page) as his. Er, unless you meant at the right of the compose/edit window, which is above my pay grade. :| All I did was sav...

Include Duane's light tower, which is a really nice mod. No bimini. Should have a yacht ensign off the stern, though.

Spot on, excellent :) owe you a beer/pizza

Re: MacTrawler Avatar

Personally, I think rake the stubby mast back a little and lose the dodger and awning.

But I could live with this design.

Re: A boat owners two happiest days

We use our :macx: in trawler mode, and have the sails and mast stored against the day I decide to sell or even fancy having another go at sailing. I did try and decided it's not for everyone. The :macx: is a great little motor cruiser, offering a lot more facilities than most motor cruisers it's siz...

Re: Replacing the Bow pulpit on a Mac 26X

Yes Bob, if it's like mine was it should all be in little(ish) blocks, comes out real easy after you get started. Messy though, and a bugger to put back (I had some left over)!! It is a bit of a stretch to get at some of the nuts. While you are in there check the nuts underneath the cleats, mine had...
