Re: EXPLAIN PLEASE - Mac Bump (trailer)

You're playing Russian Roulette with the MacBump. It might work twice, or ten times, but it's enough to miss the golden window of opportunity just once: the boat has plenty of inertia even without water ballast. You go a mite too fast, or the boat dislodges itself too easily, or you're slamming the ...

Re: Limbs 1, Mast 0

You might check out uship . Make an offer on line as to what you think a fair cost would be for transporting the mast. People who happen to go your way and have the means will respond I was lucky that way--had two lateral beams shipped from Florida to my doorstep for a fraction of the cost of any "p...

Re: Three bank battery questions

Thanks, Sum. I already have the straps and trays for 12 volt batteries, so switching to six volt banks in series would require some redesigning. I still don't understand the advantage of having the house battery charged directly from the engine, as you suggested: wouldn't that turn the house battery...

Re: Gooseneck Mast slider

Not familiar with the device, but you can always adjust the height of the boom by releasing the topping lift for optimal performance. You're right though, in a certain position the boom interferes with the bimini: ours has been rubbing against the leading edge of the bimini all the way through the f...

Re: Three bank battery questions

Thanks, Rsvpasap. That's good advice. Never used a charger while on the water. ProIsocharger does take three batteries, but it seems to me that it accepts only an alternator as a power source--and it has to be wired to the engine's contact, So wiring the solar panel to one of the house batteries wou...

Re: Three bank battery questions

Ah, it's the domino effect.I started off with two batteries and a 75W solar panel. Found out quickly that the fridge and anchor light would almost deplete the house battery by morning and--unless the sun's shining--it takes 6 hours to recharge, or start the engine I was aiming for self-sufficiency (...

Three bank battery questions

Hello! I've been using a three-battery setup (one engine and two house batteries) for years. They are connected by a Xantrex Pathfinder combiner/isolator whose performance has been... spotty. Have been trying to debug the system, blaming a possibly faulty battery (I wasn't wrong) or the Xantrex remo...

Re: Attaching wires to fuse panel bus bar

The original fuse panel (the one between the two front ports) sucks to high heaven. When I removed it, I discovered that all original wires were lamp-post quality, not to mention the connectors, which made me promptly upgrade the electrical system. Granted, I haven't changed all the wires (too lazy)...

Re: cushion covers

I am very interested! Just message me--

(I assume it's the cockpit cushions: the interior would be seven, not six: four for the dinette seats, two for the port side front of the galley, one for the port side aft the galley.)

Right?

Re: New mast questions/sugestions

I don't think you can bend the mast, on account of the side stays being too tight--at least, not if they are both too tight. Most likely, the baby stays were not in place when you tried to raise the mast, or the mast took a hit while it was in a horizontal position, How severe is the bent? You might...

Re: How do I pull further onto the trailer?

You guys love to play Russian roulette with the trailer, LOL? I will NEVER attempt the MacBump again.Last summer, I was at a Miami ramp (parking lot) and simply tried to move the trailer out of the way; there were about 6 inches between the nose of the boat and the plastic roller. Speed was parking-...

Re: Here We Go Again - February Florida Keys or Bust 2018!

Oh no! This sounds terrible. And it all happened on land. We returned from Florida last summer with a twisted trailer, but the Lord is merciful and made it back in one piece. If your trailer breaks down on land, good luck with getting help. Not only did I have BoatUS insurance, but I have been payin...
