Re: Fuel Filter

I use an external Sierra 90GPH Filter/Water Separator (looks a lot like a truck oil filter) ever since I got bad gas that ruined a great day on the water, and my Boat-upgrade savings account. I mounted mine on the back bulkhead of the gas locker on the starboard side. 1 hose reaches a gas on in eith...

Re: Rigging for single handed sailing

Bill EZ Cleats, one of the best things I've done to make sailing easier.

Now I don't have lines running through blocks back to the winches, plus it's a lot more direct an responsive to sheet in or let out my Genoa.

Re: New Custom 26X Trailer

Thanks for sharing this info Vic!

My trailer has deteriorated beyond use and I need to get a new one. (Luckily I keep mine in a slip so it's not as big of an issue)

I'll call these guys up.

Re: Docking

To get comfortable with my docking I literally spent a day pulling out of my slip and docking in another, or doing a loop and docking in mine again. Through out the day the conditions changed and I got to get more experience. I recommend having someone on the bow with a dock hook to fend off any mis...

Cape Fear Sail 6/23

Hey, I'm trying to judge interest in doing a lower Cape fear round on the weekend of June 23rd-25th. I know the one last year fell apart because I was in the middle of an ERP implementation, so I'm hoping to get this one actually going. 2 options: 1) We can meet in Southport Friday night, sail the ~...

Re: Lower Cape Fear Mac Roundup

I was talking to Rob, (a guy who is taking delivery on his '02 26x this week) about doing this again.

The last 2 years I've been busy with our ERP implementation, but I'm launching my warehouse in 2 weeks.

I'm going to plan a new one this year, does early June work?

Re: "Sub $600 Autopilot" Progress

Just throwing my name in the ring again. At this point, I don't think it even has to be "Sub $600".

From the beta units I've seen, and the reports of the recent upgrades it sounds like if its priced like an EV-100 it's still a better deal.

October is a bad time for me usually so I'll plan on April.

Ron, that's awesome! I hope we get to see you guys!

I had used some of my points to grab the Hilton Double Tree right next to Naval Academy just to be safe.

Frank Worsley The man kept Shackleton alive despite himself. Plus in an epic display of seamanship and navigation, he piloted a converted long boat hundreds of miles through the worst seas, at the worst time of year using only 2 celestial sightings to navigate...and STILL managed to arrive at the ti...

Re: It's why they call it sailing...Not cruising

As for being slow on the tack, I actually prefer to let the foresail backhaul for a little bit to help push the nose around a bit faster so I don't stall. Anyone else do this? Also, I had a 110 job and replaced with 150 genoa; I loved sailing my Jib but hated I got left behind from Macs with Genoas....

Re: An introduction... and request for advice.

If you buy an X or M as your first sail boat to learn in, you'll be in very good company. These boats are easy to sail and very, very forgiving....plus with in Power Boat mode they're extremely versatile. I tell my friends all the time, it's the best boat for a family that has a schedule. I can take...

So I'll ask for us :macx: 's with Billy Boxes.

Do you think that adds a lot of risk? We can't block out water from a knock down as effectively?
