Re: Looking for intro sail on 26M or X near Mobile or Pensac

Not that SailboatMike needs me to agree with him.....but I agree with him. In December I crewed on a early 80's S2 6.2 and even stepping off the dock into the cockpit the boat almost disappeared out from under my feet. It’s specs are 2200 lbs 800 at 22ft. I would consider that boat just as tender as...

Re: Ever move a Mac 26x/m with a quad or ATV?

Another option on the quad for wet grass or a hill would be to put snow chains on it.

Re: Ever move a Mac 26x/m with a quad or ATV?

If a quad ends up not being enough to push up hill you try an old jeep. My TJ Wrangler is 13 feet long and a lot less than that wide. I used it to slide my :macm: next to my house. The Jeep turns very sharp so it was nice for a change.

Re: Sailing lessons

Which brings me to something else I've been wanting to do, which is just go out as crew on someone else's 26X, just to see how someone who might actually have some clue of what they're doing specifically on a 26X gets it done. So, if anyone within an hour or two's drive of DC doesn't mind a little ...

Re: Poll: Trailer jack wheel and towing

I never use my trailer wheel, just a few wooden blocks. My custom dual axle trailer is heavy and with the boat on I can't move it anyways. :? I agree no wheel...on the boat or the camper trailer. I have found that things with 3-points of contact that are all wheels like to roll. I use a foot pad bu...

Re: Sailing lessons

For those interested I completed the course in Panama City FL with the sailing school down there. I had 3 days with much of it on the water then a 4th where I rented the boat and took my better half Lisa out with a captain for 5 hours. It ended up being a 4th day of lessons with no other students wh...

Re: Sailing Lake Powell (Arizona & Utah)

I made the mistake of showing my better half, Lisa, Doug's videos so now I think I am committed to at least a fun 4-5 days there. My family always did the ski-boat thing at Bullfrog so that is where I went. I have never been much further south or north of there.

Re: Sailing lessons

Well I bit the bullet the other day. Signed myself, and the 1st mate up for sailing lessons. I felt I was not doing a good job of teaching her, and want her to be comfortable in her abilities to handle the boat alone should the need arise; captains have been know to "fall" over board. Plus I know I...

Great video Doug.
How did you get the bracket for the table onto the console grab bar? (The part that is left behind) That table is really nice.

Re: cockpit video surveillance?

I picked up the action cam Sony HDR-AS300 along with a kit-pack which has mounts that would work on a pulpit. It came with a waterproof case. Gone with the Wynns on youtube did a pretty good comparison of this, a go pro and another brand...I think Yi. The biggest downside to the Sony is the audio is...

Re: Looking for easy Mac boarding in campground

I cut the lower half from an old, bent aluminum ladder. Unevenly, so it would stand straight against the stern. I then attached a board to front legs, an old broom head to the rear legs, and a pair of corks to prevent rubbing on the stern ( I'll replace the cork, it keeps breaking off ). I can brus...
