Re: Steering alternatives for my 19?

My hatch has been off for two years. I rebuilt it but still need to gel coat it. I like the crutch idea and am leaning towards a pop-top mod.

Re: Almost ready

Thanks! I tried to follow the hull lines and keep it neat. The Admiral is happy so I'm happy and she picked out the red. I wanted blue. If the weather cooperates we will be on the water all weekend!

*UPDATE* Re: Steering alternatives for my 19?

So my kid brother works at a custom bike/jeep shop. I had them lengthen everything an extra foot to give me clearance over this fat 40 4 stroke. Here's a link to a photo of the stretched and rewelded steering on Dukling: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LiLCT1ipA5Lw4k_uPUDvwZZjnPXtdRLC/view?usp=shar...

Re: Sportdrive X-5 ... Ok or not for a Mac?

I have to admit - I read the topic wrong and assumed this was about the BMW X5... I tow my 19 with a X3 and have been looking for other tow beastie options.

Adding Shore Power

In preparation of slipping Dukling this season I'm adding shore power. I've got all the parts delivered and ready to install on Dukling. Now the million dollar question... where to put the shore power inlet? I know I have to keep it within 10' of the main panel or I'll need to add another breaker. I...

Re: Slip usage?

With my :mac19: I would be in the minority at the marina we are leaning towards. The upside to this marina is that it is small (150 slips no moorings), has members only heads and showers, security cameras, fuel dock, bait shop, and a small restaurant. It is a small cove marina at the upper end of Na...

Slip usage?

The Admiral and I are considering a slip this year. In the past we have only really been trailer sailors/power boaters. For this upcoming season we are looking at a small marina in Rhode Island (Ponaug Marina) that will give us access to the mostly protected waters of Narragansett Bay. That will giv...

Boat's Planned Mods

BOAT - I need details on the van build. The wife and I are will be trading our BMW X3 for either an E350 or a GMC 3500 to use as a boat tugger/RV. Tell me more about that insulation please.

Thanks!

Re: Off season books and movies

I straddle the I-90 in Central Mass. One of my favorites is the Patrick O'Brian Aubrey-Maturin Series : https://www.patrickobrian.com/am_chrono.htm

This was what the Master and Commander: Far side of the World movie was based off of.

Re: Bilge drain?

Sometimes common sense alludes me... I have a heavy canvas tarp over the hatch opening, the hatch holding it in place, and a new trap over the whole thing. Hatch just needs new gel coat and will be right as rain.

Re: Bilge drain?

Here's the root of the problem, my hatch is being rebuilt and the tarp that *was* on her had apparently ripped near the center of the hatch opening creating a nice catch basin with a ... drain right into the cabin :| Some positive take aways from this: 1. Wife/admiral/CFO has approved the budget for...

Re: Bilge drain?

Ok I poured a fresh coffee and stopped my whining and took the dogs for a quick walk to figure out the best approach. While walking the dogs recalled that I had a spare pond pump in the shed I could use to drain the boat down. Sadly the pump doesnt have enough head to pump all the way out but combin...
