Re: Stolen Engine UPDATE

Hi Friends, Just to update you as promised. Although I still have not seen my recovered motor it seems that there was considerable damage to top cover, side panels and a couple of external sensors were broken off. The Throttle cables and harness were also cut in two. The actual engine is intact and ...

Re: Ballast Tank level control

Great Idea Kurz. Really professional job. Having the level really full is critically important. Even with a breather tube to the anchor box if you fill it when the boat is not balanced (E.G the back end is heavy) and it usually is I find I have to really get a couple of hefty people on the front end...

Re: Stolen Engine

There are a couple of reasons Dennis. Here in Willow Vale I am in between 1.5 to 2 hours to get to reasonable sailing access then I have to rig everything. Never do mange to do it in 15 minutes. Then if the wind is still Ok launch and then repeat before coming home kind of takes the thrill away. Sec...

Re: Stolen Engine

Update: I have just returned fromn 5 weeks in Ethiopia and nothing much has changed there or here!. The police have handed over the engine (? parts) to a tow yard who will take it back to Paynesville next week for assessment. I still know nothing about how much has been dismantled or is missing. It ...

Re: 3/8 line for M rudders?

Hi Yukon Bob. I use 3/8 on my rudders to lock them in place and it works fine. I have the original soft 5/16 for haulinbg them up but am going to change them next time I am down because I think the 3/8 is adequate and it stows easier than the 5/8.

Re: Making videos

Hi K9Kampers, I have done a fair bit of editing over the years and use Final Cut Pro on a big MacPro. One of the things you learn in Videomaking is that the sound is as important if not more important than the visuals. People will watch poor visuals if the sound is clean and clear but are less likel...

Re: Stolen Engine

Just to keep you up to date on the bizarre and unfolding drama. Channel 7 (Victoria) called the Boat owner this morning to say that the Police have recovered the his stolen boat and the two engines. The police confirmed that persons were being charged but the engines were already partially dismantle...

Re: ETEC 75

You are persuasive and it is worth considering. However the plot has worsened in that our Police have arrested the perpetrators and recovered the engine ---- in pieces. At this point i have no idea what the Insurance company will do! :?:

Re: securing outboards

Hi Stuendan, Glad they notified you. I asked them to make sure to do that. Yes it is strange that they did not go round the back and it is this one fact that they did not that might indicate that it is not a local theft. Windsong is very visible from the road so was the first hit. I no longer have a...

Hi A-1 Boss

Very easy to install and setup. It is one of the best mods I have made and gives really nice sail shape at the lower third. Mine is 4 years old and still fine.

Re: securing outboards

Hi, It was my engine that was stolen and naturally I am thinking about how to up the protection. Paynesville where it is moored is a sleepy little country town with very little crime. This is the first sign of targeted crime and it was Mac and Etec focused. It seems that times have changed. Many of ...

Re: Stolen Engine

Berb, I think any future engine you attach should have the bolts reversed, with the nuts on the inside and with a better lock on the cabin hatch. Pretty ballsy to be hefting a big heavy outboard off a boat in the dead of night! If I was you at this point, I'd up to a 90...... just sayin. R. ...

Yes I do Ray, but not sure whether I will get replacement or market value at this point.

Do you know anything about boat Sensor alarms that can be inside the cabin but would pick up on movement?
