Re: show us yer hook, mate
6kg Delta on the modified (extended) stock anchor roller. The Roller extension pin locks the delta nicely via the reverse pullout hole in the anchor. The setup is shown in trailer position with the anchor also shacked to the cleat. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j34/jim5055/Macgregor%20Anchor%20r...

Re: HIFIELD LEVERS
Thanks. Inspecting the larger beastie that just arrived (amazingly quickly) the other option is to move the upper section pivot point to the lower position. Will get almost 3 inches of throw from open to closed versus the stock (as shipped) 2inch throw but the end result will be approx 1/2 inch lowe...

Re: HIFIELD LEVERS
I just wanted to revisit the archives on this. First I drilled my hole 8 inches above the old hound. Too loose. I found this post and moved the hole another inch and a half. Still seems just a tad too loose. I'm hoping that once I cut the top set of holes off the hifield lever ( in order to use the...

Re: The 10 x 8 Tarp boom awning.
I have been assembling the bits myself. I have the tarp. I have the fiberglass tent poles - the type that collapse down to a usable length. But I have not tried to assemble yet. The intent is to use the tent poles (Ray tent City) at each end of the tarp (tarp corners lashed to poles with light twine...

Re: possible location for shelving on MacM
Thanks heaps everyone. I am going to try the adhesive hooks and hang canvas and string bags to see if this does the job. Use the same 3M adhesive hooks to hang small plastic coated wire baskets - arrange two hooks at the top and one at the bottom to stop the basket swinging - the basket type design...

Re: Anchors and anchor rollers
I bought a 6kg delta plus chain etc. The stock bow roller is of course not suitable. I went to a local chandler that also had the Delta's on display and found a complete anchor roller with an extension that will accommodate the Delta shaft by a suck it an see approach - fitting the available anchor ...

Re: Australian Trailer Tyres
Any experience out there on 235/75/15 tyres?
ie 225/75/15 is stock on the aluminium trailer.
I am interested as the tyre is a 116 load rating versus the more common 110. A no name brand however . . from memory "roadstar"
edit: wrong size: stock is 225/75/15 and I am looking at 235/75/15

Re: temporary 2nd forestay for jib
What you have described is a pretty common rig these days called a solent rig. Very effective for cruising and ease of sail handling. I am doing a similar thing but I am swapping my Genny out for an oversized RF jib and putting my gennaker on a fly sail furler. As the area I sail tends to have ligh...

Re: I need photos of M mast mount
My 80 watt panel mounted. Standard fittings and straight tubing. Night time now but the old iphone did a pretty good job. The mast support is braced of the stock railings. In theory I can remove the top pins and rotate the panel down to a vertical position but it seems pretty secure where it is. Mos...

Re: Tow Mc26
My :macm: with Evinrude 60hp weighted in at 1890 ATM before I added the solar panel. I did not strip it. Even had one full tank of fuel. The tow ball load at that time was 180kg. So the axle load is approx 1710 so I have approx. 200kg axle load and 100kg of tow ball load remaining (Touareg V6 TDI at...

Re: Perfect position for boathook
My boat hook is use to collar mooring posts at maximum reach with mooring lines rather than OMG too fast too fast . . . crunch . . or bloody heck another go around after being blown off the mooring . . . all up resulting in many expletives generally comparing the :macm: to a ping pong ball on ice in...

Re: Speedy Rigger Instructional Videos for MacGregor Yachts
Couple of things stand out to me being a newbie. The boom was still attached to the mast. I had sound down when I watched the video so missed any commentary ( due to location although others around me do not seems to care grrrrrr) but if a standard gooseneck - so simple it never occurred to me. Next...
