Classifieds are back online. Hopefully with anti-spam measures to keep out the bots.

Thanks for your patience.
How do I get into it, Russ? It’s asking for an email and PW. Do I need to sign up with different credentials than the main site?

Re: Nissan 5hp water pump issue

Both the water discharge and exhaust are combined and exit through the foot/prop hub together. Put the prop hub under water, and you have adequate back pressure to force a small amount of exhaust back through the cooling jacket to take the path of least resistance out the telltale. I don't know abo...

Re: Single Axle Limitations?

I never really thought about the coupling. My original gut that independent suspension is ALWAYS better, but I see that is not the case for a trailer. If you eliminate the equalizer, you'd have essentially the same thing as a pair of torsion spring axles, but with a fixed spring rate (increase in f...

Re: Single Axle Limitations?

That said which is preferred leaf spring or torsion bar. My preference would be torsion bar for single axle, and equalized leaf for tandem axles. Is there an difference in shock absorption between torsion bar and leaf springs to protect the tires? (years' ago I hit a hole on the interstate deep eno...

Re: What is this and where should I put it?

18” above the forestay hound is where most put it for a spinnaker. And yes, if using a Chute Scoop with hoop (especially), you need the extra room, but 18” is fine. As to parallel to the forestay, I don’t see any particular reason it has to be. An asymmetric spinnaker doesn’t use a stay like a typic...

Re: is this forum for "trailers & towing" only or can we talk about tow vehicles?

It should be a piece of cake for the Mac, but I'll report details of my first venture next month when I get back from the RV trip. https://i.postimg.cc/9Dsqvpgb/2020-Ford-F-150-Lariot.jpg Nice truck. I'd have gotten a truck but the admiral would divorce me. Long story, but being an NYC girl, pickup...

Re: is this forum for "trailers & towing" only or can we talk about tow vehicles?

I got one of the tiny diesels in a 2017 Ram truck. In mixed town/highway, I seem to get around 28 mpg. Pure highway, I've seen 34 mpg on the computer, but have never gotten that high calculating at the pump. But then, I've never done a full tank highway run. I routinely go over 700 miles on a tank....

That pretty much sums it up, doesn’t it? :D

Re: Anchor Storage Suggestions?

Without an anchor locker, there aren’t a lot of choices. Bow rail mounting, an anchor roller, below decks, in a locker in the cockpit if it has one, or on a stern mount. You can always launch an anchor from the stern, then cleat it to a stern cleat. Then when comfortable with the set, run the rest o...

Re: Rivet Nuts AKA Rivnuts

Instead I use Rawlnuts (known as Wellnuts in the US). These are a rubber tube with a brass threaded insert. They grip much like a Rivnut, but the rubber prevents damage to the fiberglass, the rubber also preserves the grip over time while also cushioning the glass against vibration of the item bein...

I've been thinking about that for years; I just have not come up with anything tasteful for "Nice Aft", I'm looking for a design to go with the name. :D
Think “Peaches” for inspiration. Not quite sure how that works on a hat, but that’s what it’s got me thinking about at least.

Re: Rigging Advice - Topping Lift? Boom Vang?

My topping lift goes over a block at the top of the mast and down to where I can change the length at a cleat. I never change the length after it's rigged in the spring. I wind it around the boom a couple of times to raise it for head clearance when I'm not sailing. What Russ showed is common and pe...

Re: Help - Inverter AC Grounding?

Hnhhhh??? :? - I have what came on the motor. Zink I believe. I run in fresh and salt water. I thought I was covered. :? :( Aluminium is the #1 choice for salt water. Zincs are #2, but rapidly falling out of favor. Magnesium is the #1 choice for fresh water. Magnesium is too reactive for such condu...

What's this gauge? It looks like there's a "C" at the bottom. Is that an analog temperature gauge?
