Re: Tire inflation pressure?

I know my tongue weight is too light (or the aft is too heavy). Could low pressure cause towing issues? The rig fishtails at high speeds unless I put a lot of weight in the back of my truck (sand bags). I'm not a tire engineer, but I do know the sidewalls stiffen as the pressure goes up. Stiffer si...

Re: Single Axle Limitations?

Good catch.

And if the DOT code is only 3 digits, run don't walk to the nearest tire store.

Re: So I just bought a Mac X....

Most of those Honda remotes are mounted that way, with the thumb button for tilt/trim on the outside. It's pretty poor, but it's the easy way to mount it. I flipped my handle to the inside and mounted the remote on stand-offs, and rotated it so it's 'level' and I can see the lights, but that's anoth...

Re: So I just bought a Mac X....

Have you checked the lights on the remote when the alarm is on? And for completeness, when oil pressure normal, the green oil pressure indictor is lit. This should always be showing green when the engine is running. If it's not, the alarm will sound. The high temperature light, which is right next ...

Re: Tire inflation pressure?

The first page I looked at more carefully than just a glance revealed the difference in load capacity and speed ratings between passenger car (P), light truck (LT), and special trailer (ST) tires, all of the same size. No wonder trailer tires, especially those carrying rated load (like travel traile...

Re: So I just bought a Mac X....

Have you determined that the temperature sensor is actually ok? Infrared thermometer reading at the sensor support the overheat signal? Seems like someone mentioned the sensor earlier, but I can't remember if you've been able to verify it. If this is the right thread, I believe the procedure for ch...

Re: Tire inflation pressure?

Truck and Light Truck tires have inflation tables for each size, showing load capacity for different cold inflation pressures in 5 psi increments usually. The table for the LT215/85R16 tires on my van are on the last page of this document. https://commercial.bridgestone.com/content/dam/bcs-sites/bri...

Re: Single Axle Limitations?

Tires - My tires are original - D rated Carlisle 225SR75-15. <snip>. I haven't started looking yet, but I was hoping to find some E-load rating and just get them with the wheels. I didn’t realize you had 15” wheels already. 15” radials with Load Range E are fairly common, and are available already ...

Re: Single Axle Limitations?

I got mine at the end of 2007 and I have a hodge-podge of 2007- and 2008+ features. I think I have a 2008 trailer. It is the aluminum kind. And I have been debating/researching the dual axle for the reason you suggest. I'm starting to heavily mod my boat and the weight will certainly go up. I did g...

The springs are for the tilt lock.
I’ll do it on Monday, as my photos are on another machine. :)

It's hard to beat Tom to the draw.
Yeah, well, like most news sources these days, get the news, any news, out before anyone else on the front page, above the fold, and put the corrections and retractions on the 12th page, a month later so nobody will notice. :D

Re: Single Axle Limitations?

. . . and install new hub rear seals to ensure no water gets in there. And be sure to buy double-lipped seals. The outer lip keeps water out, and the inner lip keeps grease in. I found this out the hard way after replacing bearings on one axle every spring, with bits of rust on the rollers and race...

Re: Single Axle Limitations?

I don't own an :macm: , and I have a twin axle trailer (original moved and second added by PO), but there are plenty of members here with OEM single-axle trailers who've towed them long distances. Highlander comes to mind, when he moved almost the whole way across Canada. Beene and Dreamer have/had ...

Re: So I just bought a Mac X....

Can you open the throttle on the Honda without putting it in gear? My Suzuki has a button in the center of the throttle arm that when pressed in, allows to throttle up without having the engine in gear. Yes, Russ, there's a short lever on top of the engine control that works the throttle. It's usua...
