Brake adjuster wheel stuck

Post by PeteC » Thu Apr 21, 2005 8:18 pm

I checked my brakes today on my 2001 trailer (purchased last year). The drum was pretty rusty, but I was able to clean it up with a flexible sanding block.

I noticed the adjuster wheel was all the way in. It looks like the factory never adjusted the brakes, so you may want to adjust yours, even (especially) on a new trailer. The previous owner never took the trailer out of the marina storage yard.

I was not able to turn the adjuster so I took it out and had to turn hard with a wrench and screwdriver to get it to break free. I took it apart and cleaned the threads. Then I applied lots of NeverSieze to the adjuster threads and reinstalled.
