New Jersey to the Bahamas and Back 19'
This is not a Macgregor however it is a trip that some people may think about doing. This is a story from a friend of a friend who just posted his expeiriences to the Bahamas in a 19' trailerable.

Elsewhere on Potter Yachters, there's a piece about a fellow who single-handed a Potter to Hawaii!

Matt thanks for the link, I finally figured out that 44.html is followed by 45.html and then 46. So I managed to read his whole account, and then re-read it. That was an incredible trip
And that little Potter 19 seems like an incredible little boat. Too small for my liking but evidently took the entire trip in stride. Great reading, and invaluable pointers for anyone contemplating such an excursion

If I'd found a Potter 19 in May 2007, I might not have even looked at theLove MACs wrote:MatThat was an incredible tripAnd that little Potter 19 seems like an incredible little boat. Too small for my liking but evidently took the entire trip in stride.
But I sure-as-heck wouldn't trade my
The West Wight Potter is well-designed, well-built, and VERY "yacht-y" in its looks. It's a darling little boat, much more salty-looking and "yacht-style" than the MacGregor IMHO. By comparison, the Mac 19 and 26X/M do indeed look like the "bastard offshoots" between power-boats and sailboats.
But the 26X/26M are much roomier boats, with stand-up headroom and a private head.
Could a 26X do the same voyage? I don't doubt it could. But I will probably take Bossa Nova down the "way-intracoastal trailer-way" known outside the Mac community as I-95 ... missing some of the "neat" stuff, perhaps, but catching up with the sun in a couple of days driving. And, on competing board SailFar.net, the Mac 26X "Lynx" posted an equally remarkable story of his long, wonderful tour in the Bahamas!
As they would say in the land of the Bossa Nova - Brasil - "Tenho razão?" (Am I right? Does that make sense?)
