Re: Upgrades that hurt your boats value
I'm not sure I agree with much of this. Perhaps on larger "yacht class" boats, it makes more sense.
Our boats are in an interesting niche. Not pure sailboats, not pure powerboats.
The way Mac owners use their boats is different than most boat owners.
The blue/dark hull is interesting. I agree with the premise. I would not buy another blue hull boat, especially a Mac because it doesn't hold up. It does get hot. But when I was buying my boat, it attracted me. Ignorance doesn't think things through to practicality.
Composting heads are generally an easy change out. It wouldn't stop me if I objected to the system. For many Mac owners, a holding tank might be a bigger objection for resale unless local regs required it. Boats our size OFTEN have adopted composting and people seem to really like them. Educating a new boat owner might be the biggest obstacle.
Lots of the other stuff applies mostly to larger boats. None of us have lazyboy recliners. At least none I've seen.
I'm not sure I agree that an induction stove is a bad idea. Much depends on the electrical/solar systems onboard. I've seen several cruisers traveling the globe with induction stoves.

I can see in higher latitudes, Canada and northen Europe, where a darker, heat-absorbing hull might actually be a benefit.

I'm still building my shower in my boat!
But I wont cut any bulkheads in the process. Come to think of it, i dont think there are any are there? The hull and the strengthening incorporated ballast tank is pretty much it for hull strength right? actually i guess when the top is attached at the rub rail that gives the hull quite a bit of rigidity. What do yall think?
