My Honda shifter was reversible. Maybe your Yamaha can be reversed as well.Gotro wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2026 8:18 pm A friend has a spare set of cables just the right length for this controller trouble is this controller bolts mounts from left to right. I would have to put it on the left side of the pedestal. I guess I could get used to shift with my left hand but would have to fiberglass that side of the pedestal to make that happen

Good suggestion Be Free!
I believe my old Tohatsu and Evinrude controllers were also reversible as well as my original suggested newer Suzuki controller.

Re: New 20 horsepower outboard
Thanks for or the comment Be Free, my controller was reversible. Spent the whole day, nine hours installing cables and wires. Still have to modify a plate to mount the controller to the right side of the pedestal, then I’m gonna attempt to hook up four 6 gallon, gas tanks, direct to the motor to fuel the motor with all four tanks at once with T connectors and hose clamps with no quick disconnect fitting .I am attempting to reduce failure of these connections with only one disconnect fitting at the motor. Should be able to test this boat out by the end of the week or weekend ,also because of my Rheumatoid arthritis I’m temporarily going to remove the mast replace it with my Hobie mast and use it as a hand rail to go forward to anchor or tie up to docks. I believe I can beat this health condition I have and be able to return to sailing at the end of the season
