mallardjusted: The Michigan aluminum 101036 (14" x 11P) was ok, but on the higher end (6200-6300) for rpm. The Michigan 10132 (13 1/2" x 15P) is what I have ....
An update on the prop for my Yamaha 70 ........ I did a 4 day San Juan Islands trip, and I was FULLY LOADED! 2 adults, 2 extra batteries (for a total of 4 .... the 2 extras for CPAP machines), 10 gallons water, 21 gallons fuel, 2000W Honda generator, pop/food/etc, etc. I found the several hundred extra pounds impacted my RPMs with the 13 1/2" prop. Max RPMs only got up to 5400 (instead of 5800 when lightly loaded), and my top speed reduced to 20mph. I am going to go back to the 14" x 11P prop, that should get me into the more efficient RPM zone when loaded.

how much of that 21 gallons did you burn ? How many miles ? How much of that was motoring ?

Used approximately 19 gallons for 70 to 75 statute miles (actually put some more fuel in the tanks during the trip .... not wanting to chance running out!).

All was motoring ...... with my bad knees, my mast and sails are always left at home!

As a side note, "Richard" sent me a note about using the CPAP ..... I've tried sending a pm reply twice, but it just sits in the Outbox. I have no idea how to get it sent! :| But, rather than run my CPAP directly to the battery, I use a 240W inverter (costs approx $30). Seems like it regulates the voltage better .... used it 3 nights without charging. Without the humidifier I believe it uses up to 2 amps per hour.

Sounds like a good motor for the mac, barely any size or weight difference to a 50 and a significant performance increase.

I was wondering if the transom needed to be strengthened for the extra HP when going to a Yamaha 70. I have a 1998 Honda 50 and thinking on a change in the next year or so.

Pm sidebar....

PM sit in your outbox until the recipient reads them, unlike email

I didn't do anything extra on the transom. The outboard is only a few pounds different (30 or less?). I would think about it if I was going up to 90 or more horses with 80 lbs or more sitting on the transom.
