Light bulbs for navigation lights

Post by dlandersson » Wed Jul 22, 2015 4:08 pm

All the talk re: navigation lights has me re-checking mine.

Bear in mind that they all work, and I've never needed them - which probably means I'll need them NLT next week or something.

The current bulbs came with the boat in 2011, are traditional (flashlight, etc.) filament bulbs - may have come with the boat in '97 for all I know. 8)

I'm thinking a Xenon bulb upgrade or something. Thoughts and suggestions?

I would 2nd Luna's suggestion and suggest you go with LED. I still have the old bulbs but when I do change them I am going LED. They are just as bright and take hardly any power and don't burn out. I have them everywhere else inside the boat and in my house and they work great. :macx:

Why mess around. LEDs are easy to find OEM replacements and sip power. Xenon...flashlights and such. Never seeen 'em in running lights.

Ok, can they be "swapped out" with the existing filament bulbs? I don't want to have to replace the nav lights if I don' gotta. I just cleaned, serviced and re-wired (and tested) them.
