Using the main sheet as safety while raising mast

Being new to MacGregor's and Mast raising in general and not a trusting person, thought to use my main sheet down to the port side winch mainsheet is attached between the port cleat and the forestay. As a side benifit it kept the furiler from dragging on the deck as much and saved a couple trips forward to move the drum towards the bow. I'll have to come up with another method for lowering as the cam cleats won't allow you to back up without going up to the bow and releasing the line. Btw had to loosen one of the baby stays a bit to seat the mast prior to hoisting either my rig shrank over the winter or my Mac got wider :D

I love this, great idea! I will look into bypassing the jam cleat for the trip down.

Again. Great idea!

When I was getting to know the MRS on my :macx:, I followed the suggestion of this forum to secure the furler drum to a bow cleat with a bungee cord, which keeps the foresail from wandering while raising the mast. Eventually I modified a wooly carwash mitt to wrap the furler drum to prevent it from scratching the deck.
