Sail camping Lake Pleasant, trying a new em-trak X100 VHF-AIS transponder

Post by tuxonpup »

Memorial Day was my first weekend off in a couple months so we took advantage with our first sail camping trip out on Lake Pleasant. Drove up Saturday morning from Tucson, spent the afternoon raising the mast and launching, then had a short sail to find a cove for the night. Spent most of Sunday lounging and swimming before crossing the lake before dinner to find our second night's spot. Shot some video of the new galley improvements and beginning the process of replacing our defunct VHF with a new em-trak VHF/DSC/AIS transponder:

That looks like it was a lot of fun. That is the perfect amount of wind to be in when you are learning about your boat. Did you ever get the main raised completely?

I figured out the outhaul was tied too far back, so while there was plenty of slack at the foot of the sail, it was completely taut about 18" up. I wondered if installing a mast gate would move that tension point down, as the sail stop has to sit above the gate opening right now. On the end sailing footage I say "I'll have to play with the..." when Vic asked a question, outhaul was the word she saved me from searching for.

Exactly why I installed a Tides Track, that and the sail goes up and down soo easy now.
Highly recommended.
