It is not trailerable or water ballasted, so more like a distant cousin than a bigger brother. The shallow water capabilities make it similar to a Mac, along with its powering speed. 300hp? :o

Interesting, should attract some attention from the guys trying to get Laura MS to build a 30+ footer.

The boat has a pivoting weighted center-board; no water ballast system, but relies for stability on the weighted center-board and the weight of her engine, batteries, fresh water and fuel tanks. Wonder what happens when you have empty tanks?

The double Genoa rig was the choice of the first person to order one so he could easily get under bridges. The carbon fiber masts can be dropped by two people. Apparently you can get a conventional Bermuda rig as well. The setup loses about 5-10 degrees of pointing compared to the sloop rig.

Who wants to tiller sail a 40ft boat? I am sure they could have come up with a better helm.

Any idea on what the cost would be?

Nice boat, but apples and oranges. Not at all like our boats.

When I upgrade I'll get something similar, perhaps an older Irwin 37, which would be in my price range. I'll keep my Mac since it can do things the Irwin can't, and vice versa.

Have you ever seen a golfer with only one golf club?

Don't think that boat even goes close to matching a Mac, the Mackman 28 (Aust) which was basically a copy of the :macx: was the only one I have seen but even it had disadvantages, although it does sail and motor better.

The moulds for this are probably still available and Laura would know how to access them as the then sole dealer in Aust was involved with consent in making it.

I think the SeaWard 32RK is probably the most reasonable large trailerable shallow-draft boat I've seen.
