Been hunting about for surplus arches but the ones found so far haven’t been quite what we were hoping for.
Looked at some cut tube bolt-up SST options with corner clamp fittings.
They look interesting in that we could avoid welding.
The tubes slip inside the fittings and are clamped with a 1/8 or 3/16 set screw.
We’re hesitant with that approach in that we suspect they may work loose and not be strong enough.
There are heavier ALUMINUM tube options that actually have the capability of clamping with 3/8 set screws which we could see replacing with ‘pin end’ set screws which would actually penetrate one wall of the sleeved tubing to maintain position and orientations. These are similar to the railing systems I’ve used industrially in the past which have worked nicely albeit a bit industrial in appearance. The tubes are available already anodized to be cut to length.
Wondering if anyone has used either the SST or Aluminum systems on a Mac…?
