Torque Spec. for Outboard Motor Clamps

Post by Terry Chiccino »

I was drying out the well below the outboard motor and noticed the clamp that holds the outboard motor to the transom was loose (I could spin it by hand, kind of frightening). I went and tighened it up but am wondering how tight are those clamps supposed to be? The motor is a Nissan TLDI 50.

Hello:
Since the motor is through bolted the clamps should only be snug. You do not want to crack the fiberglass at that point. My manual for Tohatsu M50D gives no specific torque figure.
