That’s what we did. It was going to cost an extra $1200 (in 2005) for shipping the boat from the factory, to the dealer in Colorado. I asked of I could pick it up and deliver it myself. While I did save the $1200 and got a tour of the factory, along with meeting Rodger and Bill, I spent about half of it in fuel and lodging. I also picked up a spare wheel and tire so I felt I was in good shape if a tire went out.
My factory tires only lasted me about 4000 miles before they were gone, but I chalked that up to poor loading on my part. I would travel with “full fuel” (boy, say that fast over and over) tanks and I think the unnecessary weight over the stern of the boat was creating extra wiggling at highway speeds.
Good advice stated here about checking your tires and hubs for excessive heat. Take it another step farther, and bring a torque wrench with you, with the appropriate socket, and check your lugs at every stop. I have a checklist that we do every 150-200 miles so we don’t overlook anything.
I don’t remember if it’s been stated in this thread yet, but make sure you have the 5 pin wiring socket for your trailer wired on your tow vehicle.
Be safe, and welcome aboard!

Trip to South Dakota
Hi Danamil, I live in Sioux Falls, but my boat is at Cow Creek. 15 miles North of Pierre. I'm on vacation June 9 thru the 15th. P.M. me if you would like to go for a sail.
Jerry.
