How far does your's bend?

Post by ESPERANZA »

I've read the threads, all the mods. I've taken care of the rake angle. How much bend do you guys have in your mast? Do you do most of it with the upper shrouds and do your final tuning with the backstay? Are your uppers tighter than your lowers? Doesn't the backstay pull the mast off to starboard?
I'm getting there but, I'm still a little confused...

Take a look at the featured article on how to tune the rig, on this site. On my X the shrouds had equal tension. Backstay needs to be snug but not pulling hard on the mast. The mast shape is more a function of the shrouds and the forestay.
