"Feit" makes a 12V compact flourescent bulb. It's a 12volt version of the spiral ice cream cone looking compact flourescent bulb everyone's replacing regular light bulbs in the house with. It screws into a standard 120vac light socket.
I chopped the ac plug off a small lamp, spliced on a 12v plug, and that thing fills my cabin with nice soft white light & only eats 13W. With a small lampshade it's great quality light and cheap. The LEDs I use later in the evening or underway, the red ones are easy on the night vision.

Actually Light Bulbs should be more correctly referred to as . . .Dark Suckers , as that is what they are actually doing. When you energize a bulb it begins to suck the darkness in and that is why there appears to be a halo around the bulb. When the bulb is full of darkness it will often make a rattling sound when shaken and no longer has the available room inside to suck in anymore darkness.Catigale wrote:If you wire them backwards the light gets pulled from the boat and leaves behind dark.

I put two strips of yellow LED's overhead in the cabin,as well as replacing all the bulbs with LEDs. The yellow strip lights are reffered to as the "party lights",very easy on the eyes at night,as well as easy on the battery.

I also use a Davis megalight for an anchor light, and I put an led in that lamp as well. It hangs from one of the caribiners on the lazy jacks.
Everything you could ever want in leds or fluorescents
