Companionway panel help please
I spent 3 years in a marina where my whife and i were the only people who overnighted. Noise was no issue. We have now moved to a new slip in a marina mostly occupied with overnighters. I work untill late in the evening and then we take off to the boat so we can wake and take full advantage of the day, we arrive in the dark around 1200 or 100 am.
Problem: The stock companionway pannel is large, bulky, clumbsy and NOISY.
Solution: will be making more traditional pannels (Ithink they are called batter boards)
I stupidly forgot to measure the originals dimentions last weekend. Would someone with their 26X at hand be willing to grab some measurements for me?
I need top width
bottom width
heigth
thickness
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks guys!!!

Square
Is it a rectangle?? If not, top and bottom measurements won't help much. M isn't rectangle it's tapered and smaller at the bottom.

Slow
I am trying to work with you, Sir, but you have to remember that I am very slow and not too bright.

I am very much age and memory challenged. I can barely remember how many wives I've had sometimes (easier to just count the monthly checks)

My 26X came with a companionway door (is this the panel we're talking about?) made of plexyglass. It's easy to handle and light--in both senses. Problem is, it is also hard to discern when laid out on the aft beds. I kneeled on it last year and it cracked. Plan to have another one made after it this year, even though it might cost $100--maybe a darker hue but basically the same idea

We made our hatch-door of smoke tint Lexan. I attached a small stainless handle, and S/S lock rasp which aligned with the lock unit on the sliding upper Hatch. The extra light & transparent door makes the cabin much nicer. For privacy, removable curtains are used.March wrote:My 26X came with a companionway door (is this the panel we're talking about?) made of plexyglass. It's easy to handle and light--in both senses.
For the A/C, we used 2 pieces of plyboard, cut away for the A/C, and the top half is removable for cabin entry.
All these are easily stored on the front birth when underway.

My M companionway panel measures:
Top width : 31.5"
Bottom width : 27"
Height: 22 5/8""
Thichness: 3/16" (1/4" would fit fine too)

Cuisto,
Highlander has a very interesting companion way cover on his 19. He may be creating a new one on his new M. It is made of plexi, but in the middle of it there is a large oval window (something like the Nautilus in Walt Disney's 20,000 leagues under the sea). I'll e-mail John and see if he can post a picture of it. You may be very interested.
