That's a TAD HIGH!!!! I don't know if that much liability insurance makes THAT much of a difference in premium, but if it does, you and your slip neighbors should get together and see what other marinas in your area require, and if it's lower, present that fact to your marina operator - - - believe me, in this economy, he does not want to face the loss of several slips at once. You don't have to threaten him, just ask why his requirement is so high - - - he'll get the message.
Okay, my insurance agent has given me some quotes on all aspects of insurance for the 1998 MacGregor X I plan to buy, what she requires, and it looks like it will be very affordable added to my homeowners insurance policy.
She suggests that my bill of sale break out the price of the boat, trailer and engine separately.
I'm not looking for the "last word" on this, but what would a reasonable value be to place on a 10-year-old Mac trailer in good condition and a 10-year-old Mercury "Marine" 50 hp motor also in good condition?
In other words, if I had to replace the trailer and motor with something used and good condition, for what amount should I insure each? Suggestions welcome of rough fair market value.
I have Progressive insurance (which I got through USAA...which is my auto/home insurance). I do not have the policy here...it is with my boat in Jacksonville. But I am pretty sure I was paying less than $350 for 25K replacement and the other normal insurance things.
Right now I am only paying $230/year since they know I am not actually sailing it and it is sitting in dry storage.
