Check your tyres (tires)

I had a chance to check my tires, and found every thing to be fine, but I checked a coworkers tires, and the last set of DOT numbers was missing from all of his tires. He had just purchased these, but the little oval where those numbers should be were blank Anyone have any answers

I think those numbers are required. I would go back to the shop and get new ones on their dime.
