It can be tricky to get the url right because if it has any spaces or special characters you have to substitute their ASCII values inside % signs.

Here's a surefire way to do it without having to type the url and worry about all that messy % sign stuff. You will get it right every time.

1: Go to the page with the picture.
2: Right click on the picture and choose properties. In the properties box you will see the address (URL).
3: Drag to highlight the full address and then press <Ctrl><C> at the same time to copy the selection. (Note I usually do this in a separate browser window from the one I and posting to the forum with.) Make sure you get it all including the http at the beginning and ending with the .jpg or .gif at the end. It may be longer than a single line.

Now go back to the message creation screen.
4: Place the cursor where you want the picture to be.
5: Press <Ctrl><V> to paste in the copied URL.
6: Highlight the pasted URL in the message, then click on the 'Img' button at the top. This will place the appropriate tags at the beginning and the end of the picture URL in one click.

Click on Preview to confirm that the picture displays how you want it to.

You can even nest tags. For instance once you have inserted a picture you can surround that whole block with a URL tag to make the picture be a link to a external page.

What happens if I don't have a URL website and just want to put a photo I have on my computer onto this website? Is that possible?

The only place you can do that is in the mod section. It allows you to select a photo the is stored on your local machine and add it to a mod entry. The posting process resizes the picture and uploads it to this web site.

The general discussion forum does not provide for uploading pictures to this web site. There obviously could be big space implications in doing this. It only supports linking to pictures that reside somewhere else on the web.

You would have to post you pictures at your own web site, or one of the free photo posting web sites then link to the picture there.
