Re: Stern Seats
Please be extremely careful of those stern seats and who sits in them. Children will love them but they can be dangerous if not used properly - - - the factory (dealer) installed seats that come for the Mac are NOT the best stern seats I've seen. Good sailing - - - you are in for years of great fun. Good Luck!

Re: Stern Seats
Sailing with sternseats occupied by adults=further immerses transom=more turbulence drag while sailing=reduced sailing speed=IMHO bad.
Stern seats occupied only at the dock or on the hook= personal choice.

Re: Stern Seats
We use our stern rail seats to set on to ballance the boat especially using our A-spinnaker and std spinnaker. There very strong and add sq footage to your cockpit.

Re: Stern Seats
My dealer installed out Stern seats on our 05 M. We think they are the best seats on the boat. We encourage all of our guests to sit there because along with offering the most thrilling ride, they also give an outrageous view of where you are going. By all means be cautious when dealing with children. Keep them off of them. As for
We also have a porta potty, and we were concerned about odor, and visuals while dumping
I have used a product that has so amazed me, I have no qualms about recommending it. It's called EXODOR PORTA-PAK. It is made by Walex Products Company, inc. http://www.walex.com Check it out for yourself.
I can't imagine not having a shore power hook-up. It will charge your batteries (did you have a charger installed), and supply power while at the dock (if power is available). Whenever we spend the night on Nice Aft while at the slip, we bring a 19"TV along.
As I was typing that last sentence, I realized that in order to do that this season, we need to get a new TV for the boat. Before anyone sends me a post saying that all I need is a converter, don't. I want a new TV

, well, we don't race. We are out there for the sailing, and those seats just make it better. Most especially when the boat is heeling at extreme degrees. Sitting on the leeward side is a real heart pounderSailing with stern seats occupied by adults=further immerses transom=more turbulence drag while sailing=reduced sailing speed=IMHO bad.

Re: Stern Seats
as mentioned..EVERYTHING is dealer installed other than blue or white hull and trailer brakes.
The stearn seats are VERY easy to install. I got them from blue water yachts.
Nice addition. Haven't had the chance (or desire) to sit on them while sailing. One of the best features is the block attachment ring for doing a rudder line mod http://www.macgregorsailors.com/modt/in ... ?view=1075. Probably the best thing I have done to the boat. Makes raising the rudder easy..and will release if you hit anything!.
I don't see how shore power is a big deal. 12v is more than enough for a boat of this size. Even the 38' boat we are looking at doesn't have shore power. The reason we go sailing is to get away from everything that needs power
roller furler - good buy (FF1 unit)
Some other pics of my initial mods to our M: http://home.comcast.net/~26m/mods/mod1/
Later on you can install a 8 circuit 12v panel in the factory location, do a 2 battery/3 switch setup:

Re: Stern Seats
Nothing you list is ever factory installed. All are dealer additions. They pick the parts and they do the installation so you will get different solutions from each dealer. Your mileage will vary.

Re: Stern Seats
Go for the stern rail seats. It really does expand the cockpit and it's a great place to hang the life buoy and secure the barbeque.

Re: Stern Seats
Mike,
Stern Seats are a nice addition, Shore power is a must if your going to be spending any amount of time aboard at the dock. As mentioned above all of these options are dealer installed but not all dealers are qualified to deal with shore power. Ask to see some of their work and check out the January issue of Sail magazine for a writeup on how shore power should be done.
