That table is pretty cool.

The pictures are a bit dark.
How did you attach it to the pedestal?
Is it collapsible?

Great addition.

The storage box and table look good, could you post a pic how you finish off the inside hull after adding the box?

the box is a good work, it fits very well, I like it. I did a similar job two years ago and nothing negative could be observed as far as the stability is concerned.

I think there is no reason to worry about loosing to much stength of the structure.

Russ - next time im in Bozeman lets connect (Im there monthly, on May 19 next)

The table connects to the small 'standard' mac table that pivots up from the pedestal. Sorry, I should have mentioned that.

The design is the small table folds down, the larger table bolts to it (and stows flat down below)

Wow! That would be cool.

We're actually flying out on the 19th for a week in Florida. Maybe next time you are out this way.

Uodate - we had torrential rains in the area yesterday and this morning both my glovebox and my locker mod had about 1 inch of water in the bottom

I had hoped this would be a place where I could throw cameras and watches and keys, but it looks like I will have to use Pelican boxes and/or baggies for personal stuff even in these lockers

At least I found this out cheap.
I might try to run a silicone lip to keep the water out (I presume it runs down from the top into the locker/box.)

There's just something about boats that attracts leaks in places you want secure. Appreciate any boat manufacturer now days who makes a boat that is water tight, even temporarily, and yet has good light and ventilation below. It's not easy to accomplish. The very reason all the old seagoing boats were dark and gloomy below with sparse ventilation.

This was a silly thing on the table I left out which I should have added.

I mounted the table to the small table, drilled a single hole for the Bolt and wingnut. Now I remove the table, twist it 180 degrees in plane and align it how I like it again, but with the large table hole now above the second hole location. I use the top table to template the second hole in the bottom table, and the bottom table to template the top table hole.

All this makes sure that I have a table that will mount either way (both holes will align with the small table holes in either orientation) and I wont have to remember which way it goes.

Whew - that was a lot of words...

Did you ever resolve the "flooding" problem with you lockers?

I really see a lot of value in this. The Mac doesn't have cockpit storage and your mod makes a great use of empty space.

I havent yet Russ. When cruising, I have the enclosure up, so then nothing gets wet.

I do have pelican boxes in each locker for anything that needs to be kept dry. If I crack the locker open, they get wet then dry out when in the driveway. Probably the only way to keep them from filling is make some sort of rainshield.

Im looking to partner and buy a Sailrite sewing machine with a sailing friend, so this might be a good startup project.

The lockers were great on the Cape this summer - i kept propane in them which I could reach from either cooking position (the galley, or my new big table)

Eventually, I will make that table foldup and replace the stock one completely. I envision one which will fold up completely, and also have space to fold up to let someone go below to get the Merlot when you forget it...with everyone else sitting at the table.

Im also eye-balling the rear of the cockpit for cruising, and thinking of a removable wheel new rear table mod.

A folding table is the way to go, like ours.

ImageImageImage

Folded down when you don't need it,
Up and narrow for drinks and snacks, Easy passage into the cabin.
Folded all the way out for eating.

No extra parts to store anywhere.

It would be cool to make that same table with another 2 inches on each side - 4 inches more width, and then another foot of table when fully deployed.!!!!

Duane - what holds the side pieces up? Are the hinges gated to support the sides once they are out, or is there a piece underneath??
