26X Hatch Handle

Post by AlaskaMan »

I want to install a handle to pull my hatch closed on my 26X. Any recommendations on a source of supply? :macx:

Many marina / boatyard / marine supply stores have what you are looking for. I bought mine at West Marine. RV supply stores & hardware store bath/plumbing departments may have something to offer. Quality for outdoor / marine enviroment should be considered, as well as mounting (thru bolt vs. screw in).

Search for part # 74012 at West Marine. Most use a 12" SS grab handle. They are available at most marine supply stores.

We use a horn cleat as a pull handle so we can get several functions from it. We attached heavy elastic bands to a 65 watt solar panel that we put on top of the sliding hatch and just pop the aft band over that cleat....(two more horn cleats are on the front of the hatch for the other two bands) It's also useful to temporarily drape a line over it or attach mosquito netting lines, etc.

Sometimes a handle from plumbing supplies are better quality stainless steel and even stronger that from a specialist marine store...the grab handles they fit next to baths to help the elderley...and cheaper...
