Hey Dan, one more suggestion.

"Crotalus"

That is the genus of the pit viper you commonly call rattlesnake, and, of which you folks in Texas have plenty of.

(I always liked the word, and of course no one who is not a naturalist or zoologist will know what it means -- so they will have to ask)

Hy TexasDan40 I have to name my boat also pretty soon and have seen many names I like but I want something more personal. When I was a young teen growing up in Ensenada ,Mexico myself and another Gringo kid friend of mine would always respond to his Mom's or Dad's comments or questions with" Yeah but ....." . We would repeat it 200-300 times a day. It would sound like a frog sometimes also when repeated quickly 2 or 3 times. She would say -" Do you guys want to go out and ride your ATC's? We'd respond "Yeah but...." then giggle like idiots till we almost pi$$ or crapped our pants. She would laugh too.So I was thinking I might name my boat : YEAH BUT .... ( complete with elipses ) Maybe someone seeing it on the road would say : " Yeah but it can't be a sailboat- Look at that huge motor on the back". Conversely they might say : "Yeah but it can't be a powerboat- look at the f%#@&#* sail mast on top". People would have to struggle a little bit understanding the name but maybe some of them would get it. Is this a good idea for a name? What do some of you forum members think? ( Another silly , juvenile word I coined around 1982 was : bloodfart ) For example :" I ate so much chile in that burrito I think I'm about to have a bloodfart". Or : " Yeap ,that was a bloodfart alright".

We have an unnamed 26M. Thinking of continuing the spanish influence with:
"Del Sur Cruz " - (Southern Cross)
"Vera Cruz " - (True cross)
The southern cross is relevant to the boat's new home here us Aus. Being imported from the northern hemisphere.

Just looked up boat names link and I like "Margaritaville" . Mate just came back from US. Margaritaville found. It's a bar at Las Vegas.

The vinyl name and registration stickers arrived in the mail today from Speedy Signs dot com... alas, we have snow/sleet and below zero wind chill. Otherwise I'd be out there right now applying them! :|

I was evenly split between the two. I still like the azul name. Galactica will go on the aft end of each side but I'm thinking about arching across the stern seat: la Diosa Azul de la agua

then again, with two names, I could have just named her ' Bi-Polar ' :D

You can't go wrong naming it after the Admiral - or a dearly, & mutually, loved relative.
& even if the house votes it down, you still get points with da' boss

Finding a name for your new boat is the Best part of getting a new boat! Congratulations! One of my favorite names so far is "Phunferus". But there are lot's of great names. I have always looked to music lyrics for names, find a song you like and pick part of the lyric for your name. I have a dinghy called "Daytripper", perfect for the little boat because that is just what we do with it. Good luck!
