How to take leaked water out of bilge
My water bladder leaked when I was trying it for the first time.
I cant find where is the bilge pump if there is any.
The water faucet with the manual pump is not working, and the bladder have a Open and Close position, but dont know how to keep it in the right place.
I dont know how to fill the water bladder that is located under the head. I can see it from under the table opening.
Is there a way to install a better manual pump at the kitchen and head sinks ?
Is there a way to install a shower inside the head ? With drainage ?
Any advice ?
Thank you

Re: How to take leaked water out of bilge
Hector,
1. The manual water hand pump can be fixed. Take it apart and clean it inside. Be careful not to lose the ball bearing and spring. Generously grease everything with white petroleum jelly. Put it back together. If there is a leak at the handle, stretch some teflon tape around the joint. The bladder ( I assume it is the plastic 5 gallon one) can be taken out and filled from a faucet. A clear plastic tube from the hand pump is pushed through the on/off valve hole and is tight enough to prevent leaks from sloshing. Prop the bladder tank up so it does not move. I used some indoor/outdoor carpet.
2. There probably is no bilge pump and you can get by without one. Get a manual pump at a marine store.
3. Forget the shower in the head. Just wash up outside with a portable spray tank.

with the Mac, you will need to get a sponge to get the last of that water out.
course in texas, it only rains twice a year

Re: How to take leaked water out of bilge
The best way to get the water out of the bildge is a spoonge. There are numerous sections of the bilge due to the WB-tank. I have a small bilge pump with a 12v cord, but rarely use it because is easier to use the spoonge. When I wash out the inside of the boat in the spring, I use a shop vac to suck up the water. I was in a storm with heavy rains, anchored overnight in heavy rains and I only accumulated about 1/2 gallon of water spoonged out of the bilge areas.

Re: How to take leaked water out of bilge
I agree that a sponge is the only way. The problem with it, and the factor that primarily limits the lifespan of the sponge is the accumulation of fiberglass particles. It is amazing that something (fiberglass) that is barely visable can cause so much pain. I don't know if it would help to wear some kind of glove (like heavy rubber). I try to keep the bilge sponge separate, and don't use that for anything else and frequently get a new one.

I use a wet/dry vac to remove the water from the bildge, of course here in Juneau Alaska we get a bit more rain than Texas.

Re: How to take leaked water out of bilge
The trick is finding the low spot of the bildge and see if you can add a bronze drain to dump it on trailer. You need inside hull access to put the hull fitting into to lock nut. I am only talking about thru hull drain that you have to screw in during launch and drain after pull out.

Re: How to take leaked water out of bilge
In South Florida we get tons of rain, I got tired of using a sponge and bought a reasonably sized (6-gallon) wet-dry vac for about $40 at Sears. No more sweat or fiberglass particles to contend with. Generally I vacuum both sides of the ballast tank where the ladder is (that's the low point on my M), as well as right under the ladder where the batteries and my bilge pump are located. I find that water still collects in other spots under the aft berth too (presumable because of heeling when under sail) so I hit that area too. Leaves everything just as dry as the sponge, but with much less hassle, and the wet-vac can also be used for the darndest stuff around the house too. Of course, I leave the wet-vac at home when I go out since it is bulky and clumsy to keep on board.

Re: How to take leaked water out of bilge
Well I suppose a sponge is OK for leaked tap or bilge water
But for beer spilage I always use a straw that I keep strung around my neck for such extreme situations
Never admit to spilling good Scotch
for gas or gasoline splilage their very easy to clean - up strike a match boom she's gone just watch out for the FLASH POINT
J
PS Disregard that last quote

Re: How to take leaked water out of bilge
that is an impossibility..........
I wont believe it. A scot spilling his whiskey............or mine for that matter.........won't happen.
what was that famous quote.....
"... I no kinna change the laws of physics captain!"
Dont worry john..... If it gets knocked off the table we are still safe. Several years ago, when I was still occasionally shooting IPSC competetively, I was at a restaurant luncheon where the waitress knocked a full water glass off the edge of the table to the floor.
I was looking away and when another across the table yelled, I turned and made a grab for it..........(the glass, not the waitress). caught it full before it hit the floor, with hardley a spill. She joked to all concerned that either I was an alky thinking it was a drink, or a scotsman......... the only reply I could think of quickly was............"no.......but I hate wasting targets, next time throw it a little higher so I can get a clear shot" in that particular venue all the laughter stopped.

I keep on the boat one of those long handled contraptions with a squeegee sponge on the other end. With a bucket to squeeze the water into, it cleans the bilge without you touching the sponge. It works well on my

First of all Ray if you used one of those big liquid laundry jugs with the big wide opening kneck "like I do" you would not need a mop & bucket for Pee spilage if you still are having Pee spilage
Second spilling Scotch is a serious matter thats what you've got a tongue for just dont spill it onto the guy's pants who's sitting beside you

I use a plastic TURKEY BASTER to get small amounts of water out of the bilge.

Re: How to take leaked water out of bilge
Let it freeze, then remove it in chunks!
Really tho, stuff a towel into the hard to sponge area and leave it for a while. The towel absorbs the remaining water.
