Installation of Canopy

My 2002 came with a brand new factory manufactured canopy when I bought the boat two years but I had never bothered to try installing it until today. With the help of a very seasoned sailor friend we tried to figure out how to put it together. After a frustrating hour of trying we gave up. Has anyone any photos or instructions on assembly. Maybe I'm missing a piece. There are two three legged bits that came with the canopy.

No, I mean the canopy that goes over the hatch. Maybe 'm not using the right terminology.

The cover you're referring to is called a dodger. I suspect that several models are out there. Our 2002 X was purchased at Blue Water Yachts, and they had two dodger models at the time. One wide and one narrow. The narrow model fit inside the two winches, while the wide dodger attached beyond the winches. Benefits of the wide dodger are twofold: it provides greater protection from spray and it can be fitted to the BWY full cockpit enclosure. The disadvantage is that it reduces available footspace moving going forward. Since your boat is located in the Northwest, it and the dodger may well have been originally sold by BWY. Once you determine which type of dodger you have, someone here is bound to have some decent close up pictures of how it fits. Getting the brackets and snap fittings properly positioned is quite critical. Good luck.

Check and see if the metal pieces are aluminum or stainless steel. If stainless, the product is likely made by Dowsar Marine of Ontario.

Dodger - That's the word I was trying remember! At 73 (today is my birthday) I have an excuse for forgetting. The model is the wide one. Any further help/photos, etc. would be much appreciated.
