However although the dongle is recognised by my laptop the Seaclear program does not. Maybe someone reading this can help me.I do not have any experience with navigation software.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have a US Global Sat BU-353.....

......and after using the installation CD I used "Device Manger" (go to 'control panel/hardware/sound') to set it to Com 4.
Then in SeaClear I used "Tools", then "Properties" and set "Rx2" to 4800 baud and Com 4. That made it work fine. Be sure and "Save" your changes as you do this.
I use "Tx/Rx 1" to communicate with the Garmin Map 76, so I can send waypoints to it.
I don't know if you have a need or not, but I have instructions on my site on how to convert the free USGS topo maps for anywhere in the US to work with SeaClear....

Besides charting a lot of inland lakes I've started to do some of the areas I have NOAA charts for as the topos can sometimes give other interesting info that isn't on the nav. charts.
Good luck,
