Possible new Sailor?

Hello all, I just found this board while searching for info about Macgregor Ventures.
A little about Me;
I learned a little about sailing some eight years back on a friends older Mac 26?(My friend wasn't real sure, and I think it was 70's vintage?) at Lake Mead, in the Las Vegas, NV area. Later, out of the group of us that hung out and sailed together, two friends bought 1965 Jensen Marine "Cal Thirties", that coincidentally were built in the same month. We sailed those out of The Channel Island Harbor in Oxnard, CA. Now I'm hooked on coastal cruising too?

To fast forward to the present, I've been really missing being able to sail, since both friends have sold their Sailboats(How DARE they get me addicted, then abandon ship!) plus living in Nevada doesn't help.
Now here's the deal, It seems that the widow Lady next door whom inherited Her property from Her Dearly departed, also has a Macgregor "Trailor Sailor" sitting in Her backyard on the original trailer, that She has no use for, and has been sitting for years.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's a 17' Venture that needs a lot of cleaning to say the least, and it's motor is MIA. The rigging looks to be a mess as well. The mast s present. I'm thinking this little Mac might serve to allow me to "Brush Up" on my Sailing skills.
I have just made it known to Her that I'm highly interested in it, and I'm now awaiting a responce from Her. Any hints or suggestion here are more than welcome.

XJ indicates one of two things(well, maybe even both)
#1 XJ = Jeep Cherokee. (I owned a 97)
#2 XJ = Engine code for a 1969 Pontiac 428 that I had in a 1980 Trans Am that was only supposed to have the anemic 4.9 liter engine in it.(It still had the 4.9 decals on the shaker scoop, Hehe)

As far as the "Widow next door?" Sorry guys, I have no additional info on Her marriage history. (You guys are on your own here)
