I see we have all kinds of special individuals on the site so those of you interested in some first class inbreed engineering I took these measurements for you. :P This is the best looking one and the other was already used to make mods. These do have some advantage over the IDA rudders. :o If you forget to put them up when taking the boat out of the water don't worry about it, they will never hit bottom, and if they do they have a 1/4" aluminum plate edge that will cause more damage to the ramp then to the rudder. They are also heavy and 1/4" thin so if you leave them down while motoring fast you will not notice it until you execute a turn at high speed that quickly turns into a F-18 4G turn. :? Since they are shorter then Ida rudders you can go in shallower water. 8) Now for reference purposes I am 69" and 224lbs on a good day but since it is evening and I just eat a big plate of spaghetti you can add about 5lb to that. Also since I did not marry my sister or first cousin I am wearing a bag over my head so I can be seen with this inbreeded rudder. Here looking at your sister enjoy. :D :D :P

So when did the Unknown Comic from the 70s Gong Show join the forum, someone should tell Chuck Barris this guy is making aftermarket rudders. :D

They are some nasty looking rudders.... looks like they built when materials were cheap! (Or maybe from the left overs of a rotting pick-up?)

I see that the trousers, belt, boots, and undershirt are all US Army (Hoooah!!) issued and authorized...

Not so sure about that head gear though...

Catigale,

Why would you think this story is fictional? I assume all information is factual. This information was received from another boater and I was hoping after 172 views that someone here would have some additional information to share. I would never fabricate a story, and dont have a reason to. I'm new to this forum and have received alot of helpful information, including from you. Thank you for responding to my threads helping me out. If I took your comment the wrong way, I apologize.

BNG, I know Catigale personally - in fact, he's stayed here at my home. I assure you, Steph hasn't got a mean bone in his body, and I'm sure he meant know offense whatsoever. I'm certain he really was just wondering if it was for real, since there's been no other reference to, or corroboration of, the incident. And frankly, I myself am beginning to wonder if that other boater was mistaken about the type of boat.

Dude...that's cold...

We would never wear headgear like that...unless it was painted "Air Superiority Blue"

BNG - my apologies - I wasnt accusing anyone of fraud or the like - it seems like the relayed story has no backup and I wanted to see if it really happened or not.

On a forum board, these sorts of thread quickly acquire a life of their own and, if not confirmed, will become the reference for the 'South River Capsize' that may or may not have ever happened..

I can't say whether or not this actually happened. I did an internet search of various news sites in the Annapolis/Baltimore area and found nothing about this. I did find articles pertaining to a fishing boat that capsized, dumping several people in the water, but that was about a week earlier.

Unless there are fatalities, there usually isnt a story to be found - and the beauty of the Mac is, the boat stays on the water - so if you stay with the boat, you are usually ok. The first summer I got my boat, there were two kids drowned in a Mac due to a capsize (drunk skipper, 10 on board, powering unballasted) and of course the story was splashed all over (including here)

I was down at the marina this weekend and didn't hear anything else. I think it was someone who misidenfied the boat.
