LOOKING FOR WINCH HANDLES V222

Post by gedaggett »

I recently obtained a 1973 venture 222 and I need to get winch handles for it. Here is the thing I have never seen a winch like this. Anyone know where to get a handle or two for this winch?

Hi gedagget: Contact Bluewater Yachts in Seattle. 800-688-8626. A lot of equipment was installed by the dealers (low bid) and was, to say the least, "interesting". One of the dealers I knew had stuff custom built and good luck on finding replacements or parts. Good luck. Fair Winds and Full Sails, Old Salt...

Did you ever find the winch handle for this? I need the same thing. Well I do have one, but the grip portion is broken off of the handle and now I'm exploring my options. According to the Bluewater Yachts people this winch takes an early Venture flat bar style winch handle, which is no longer available... at least through them.

That's a winch? Never saw one like it.

Might be easier to just replace the winch. Or does it even need a winch. I've never used my M's winches.

Our VN-23 has no winches either

But I have like 8-10 of them nice Barlow and Lewmars, some stainless, on a shelf in the barn

Not sure if I should put them on our not, or where they would go

ditto I have never seen one like your photo

I need the same, but honestly have never really need the handle. A few wraps and a good pull are all that is needed tighten them up. Still, would be nice to have for ease of use.

Blue Water Yachts does not carry them, They have a kit that will replace both winches with Marelon #6 winches, and handles, for $208.
