I know Cheryl's request for comments has yielded many. As a long time Mac(intosh) user, my recommendation to all users (regardless of platform) is to base your OS choice on your software needs (not the other way around), and accept the rest. Never will you please all the people all the time, but it sounds like some are taking offense to BWY's effort to update. Yes the idea is to add convenience to the customer, but to NOT buy because you CAN'T do it online???? Heck, as far as interactive, I'd much rather talk to them in person, take advantage of their knowledge and experience, and order over the phone anyways. Besides with their 1-800 number it's like free bandwith :) :) :) My 2.023 cents worth anyways.

Regards,
Shane

Point well said they are fab its why i bought my boat from them, but non the less i like to look too, makes decisions about whats available and where to buy, easier you know "a pic is worth a 1000 words". I'm sure it wont be the end of the world if i can't shop online with BWY but right now i cant even see or read whats in there inventory It might just be a hiccup but before the upgrade i could read what they offered, so we point out hey is it really an upgrade if you reach less customers?

I shop all the time on the net looking for the best prices & easiest location so as if I would really like to see something before I purchase it I know where to go unfortuantly in these days of cut back inventory alot of stuff is order only "not stocked"
So now your option is to look around the marina's for a boat that has that perticular item on it , or find a boat manufacturer that installs them on their boats them locate a dealer that has that boat in stock or talk to the vender and ask them if they have sold that item lately to someone localy and where they keep their boat ! so as you can see that item first before you buy it . Lots of times I see products that I think I'd really like to have on my boat, then after seeing them I say I don't think so ! . This will save you alot of greif & the 25% restocking charge if you order something & then return it .
I allway's go direct to the manufacturer's site to get the most info & all the spec's on something before I buy it or even think about installing it , and if I am still not sure on my decision I'll wait untill the next boat show as I did just recently waited 8 mth's seen what I wanted @ Garhauer stall & bought saved on taxes , shipping , duty :)

so you as a smart shopper have lots of options & time if you want the best product & price 8)

Great Comments from all of you, I can't thank you enough! Yes we know that the accessories part is not working, Todd wanted to do some updating before getting that part to work. We plan to have a small site that will work with Iphones etc. Todd has a plan....I will have him look over your comments later today to get him going on making some changes. Again, thank you for your comments. Cheryl

Thanks for the input! The accessories site is up and running now :) , however I just blew up the parts site :( , it should be back up by tomorrow. Once I fix it, the parts site works fine directly without Flash (it does need JAVA, but even apple runs JAVA). the direct link is http://bwyachts.com/BWYParts/info.htm
The accessories site does does not need Flash or Java and can be accessed directly at http://bwyachts.com/web%20catalog%20312 ... sories.htm (use the spaces).

I am working on a new mobile site that doesn't need flash for those of you with iphone.

Mute button for the audio is a very good idea, I'll get on it.

Why do you need the audio at all? I mean, what does it really add? It significantly increases load time for your page, can be potentially a real problem in quiet environments, not everyone will have the same taste in audio, and it causes folks to have to load unnecessary and unwanted software on their machines just to obtain your site's content... and after all that, who the heck wants to scramble around and hit a mute button every time they visit your site? Not me... indeed, it would be a reason NOT to visit your site.

I say ditch it altogether... it's just an aggro producer, it adds nothing of value for your customer, and may, in fact, send people running away from your site instead of attracting them.

Still broken links on the new website. Is there a place BWY is keeping track of issues?
  • - The Accessories page is not displaying any accessories
    - Clicking on the home link from the parts page gives an error
    - Will be nice to see the mobile page, but until then I can't get past the Home page on my mobile devices
Just a suggestion for the future, but you might want to pilot test major changes before publishing them (while keeping the old website live). I'm sure if you had asked, many of the folks from this group would have been willing to test out the new website and provide feedback. That way you could fix the bugs before the publishing to the world.
