keel interchangeability
I have a 1971 Venture 2-24 with a bad keel. I have found a 1984 MacGregor 25 that may have a good keel. A tree fell on the 25 and the mast was wrecked. I may be able to make one good boat out of the two. Does anyone know if the keels would be interchangeable?

Re: keel interchangeability
I found this post in an older thread:
The brochure for the V24 cites 575lbs.
It may bolt in, and just be heavier. I would try locating measurements, if possible. The designs are not radically different to the eye, though (like the V22/2-22 is).
The Mac 25 has 625 lbs of ballast.Bob McLellan wrote:The keel from th 24 should work fine on a 25

Re: keel interchangeability
I would definetly measure from the top/front edge to the pivot bolt! I have 2 keels (one is for sure from a V25, the other was "supposedly" from a 25, but its questionable) and that measurement is 3" different between the two. The longer one (around 15" if I recall) did not work in my 79 V25 (it hit the front of the trunk and would only allow the keel to go halfway down) and I had to re-drill the pivot hole. All other measurements were the same, and they looked identical in every other way. I'm wondering if the one was from a 24 or if the 25's had a change somewhere along the line?
