Mail Sail cover over boom
Anyone have a place they ordered one from? My local sail shop can make one for $300-$400. How do you 'secure' yours over the main sail and boom? Zippers or snaps or bungees?

Blue Water Yachts sells them for about $200. You might have to call them with a measurement since it's an older Mac, though.

Go to the "other" Macgregor site at sailboatowners.com and checkout their store. I bought mine there and am very pleased with it. It fits perfectly and it made well, def not a universal fit one. It wasn't cheap, but then, it doesn't look it either.

Re: Mail Sail cover over boom
Had a custom one made for our M by a local canvas shop. I think it was in the $300 range.
I have seen the Mac cover on other boats. The one we had made was a better fit, better made, but the price reflected it as well
The BWY cover should fit the bill for most owners.
If it is made well, the zipper on the mast end, and the fasteners on the bottom, and line tied on the end of the boom should give a good fit and finish.

I'd suggest The Sailors' Tailor as another possible source. http://www.sailorstailor.com
They have a measurement page where you can determine the cost per foot for a custom cover, and offer covers for the

Good to know! I do have a line that comes from the top of the mast that holds the boom level when the main sheet is not attached to the end of the boom. It'll come in handy now for avoiding that tear!kevinnem wrote:just a quick note, if you leave the boom and cover attached when you lower the mast- be carefull, I ended up ripping mine
