Jack Sparrow has already just recently done this , but as u can see their is alot of the original window left around the opening hatch so as strong as the hatch maybe its still dependent on the original window which is not half as strong as the opening hatch !! http://www.macgregorsailors.com/modt/in ... viewcat=17
Also I beleive BWY doe's this mod for boats they sell as an option

I bought two of these for about 26$ each @ the boat show still have to install them yet thinking on top of the cabin roof just back from the front windows they are alot cheaper than two of the small opening hatches that run around 200$ each for good quaility ones that will not leak !! also the cowls can be turned around in any direction to catch side breezes & can be removed when not needed as they come with closing caps
